Been here a few months. Loving the scene here and being a 90s kid I’ll be treating myself to a generous selection of nostalgic old cards.
I never thought that I would be so impressed by the new stuff though I mean look at this! it’s only common cards but it’s amazing.
Pokemon’s portfolio of artists has really skyrocketed since the “vintage era”. Lots of different artists and styles to love and sun & moon had some of the best arts. A majority are easily accessible Commons and uncommons.
Having those three legendary birds in the background was such a great idea. I just love details like that.
And it’s once again proof that Pokémon collecting is accessible with any budget; You can collect only modern commons/uncommons and still have a great looking collection.
The common and uncommon arts nowadays are better than the full arts
This is such an unfortunately true statement. However, I appreciate the love they’re starting to get. I think that’s part of my attraction to the Hidden Fates/Ultra Shiny GX shiny’s is that most of them are made up of beginning/mid evolution Pokemon.

Both modern and full sets are underrated/underappreciated. There is a lot to enjoy when you aren’t focused on rarity and value.
