McDonald's Japan Happy Meal Promos (August 9-11, 2025)

I happen to be in Tokyo (NOT for the promo to be clear lol), and my plan today was to have 2 happy meals for dinner to get the cards. Well, the way I see it, I got to have a better meal elsewhere tonight haha.

But yeah, mainly sucks for any kids looking forward to this. I think the best case obviously would have been to estimate demand better or have a much longer planned promo period (which = more printing). Probably too logistically complex, but maybe it would even be better to give kids a voucher code with a meal and then print however many are needed, and have them be mailed or picked up on a later date…

I wonder if pokemon will start adding age restrictions.

Not sure. It sounds like a good idea at first, but the lengths at which some people will go to make a few bucks by utilizing children would disgust me if it got to that point.

They do this for legoland in Odaiba. I tried to a take friend there for her birthday because she’s a big Lego fan, but when I went to buy tickets I was told that each adult must be accompanied by a child.

I tried to borrow a child from my fruitful friends but it didn’t work out.

Another solution would be to have separate times for both children and adults to purchase the Happy Meals, setting aside stock for each group. They do this in Japan already for screenings of children’s movies, with the daytime timeslots being for the kiddos and families and the late nights for the “big friends”.

So how many hours did supply last?

It’s crazy how yesterday I could buy all I wanted for a cost average of $7-8 a pack, and now they are averaging $15-16. Still seems decent enough for a long term hold.

Maybe an age restriction will influence scalpers to have kids to get cards. Pokemon has a chance to solve Japan’s birthrate decline. :brain:

Did you have issues with canceled orders? I’m not sure if any of mine I put through will end up being fulfilled

Have 1 order left (of 5) that hasn’t canceled yet, but I’m not optimistic

No cancellations yet, but also none have shipped yet either…

Almost all of my orders from yesterday were canceled (and I’m guessing the one that hasn’t shipped probably will given prices now). Even the ones I ordered this morning are probably going to end up canceled given the prices have jumped 500-1000 yen since then per pack.

The only one I have left is from this morning at about 1600yen per pack. Hopefully some will get through.

Are you buying from Buyee? Most of the listings were flying…some may have been OOS when the middleman service was trying to purchase it.

Yeah, buyee. It’s hard to know if cancelations were from already being sold out, or the seller just waiting it out to see if they can get more $$

Im sure a little of both. I have one friend that cant get any orders to “stick” on Buyee. They keep getting the cancelations as well

I’m not 100% sure, but I think sellers have the option of buy it now/ends immediately…or have to manually accept orders.

Bought 8 packs for $100 yesterday on eBay. Paid but they haven’t shipped yet…prices have tripled overnight so im fully expecting a cancellation with some kind of excuse, and them to be relisted at a higher price…

Then it’s the same issue isn’t it?

It’s not the first time we’ve seen this kind of antisocial behaviour and the last time it wasn’t even this bad and TPC decided to halt exclusive promos in JP for a period of time.

There is no good look for the company when the food waste is so obvious. This isn’t even a full art and people act worse than animals.

Its 2025 and Pokemon can still not make enough product to have a sucessfull launch, they have blamed it higher then expected demand for soon 10 years without doing anything

The Pokemon company acting as if second batches aren’t a thing, it’s like

“Op! Oh shi- nope, can’t print anymore of those, printers are very moody and absolutely CANNOT print the same things they’ve printed before!”
