Hi all, I saw a few others doing this idea and I thought it would be cool to crowdsource and make a digital gallery for all cards that reference the Gen 1 games in story order. I’ve added the few that I can think of please suggest any others that I have missed!

Not sure if you want to include cards from Pocket, but the most recent set includes a Farfetch’d with a loose reference to Route 13 where it can be caught in Yellow

This is a fun project. I suggest to go through all the old vending series card as many of them directly reference the games in terms of locations where you meet certain species. I see you already have a handful of them. On top of my head you could include Caterpie, Metapod, Zubat, Moonstone, Fossil Excavation, and Flash.

I think you should also include Pokemon that can be caught on the various routes. Like Pidgey/Rattata for Route 1. I would also include another Blue card for the optional rival fight on Route 22 (West of Viridian). Maybe include Fanclub Porygon in the Celadon City portion to represent the Game Corner (since it’s in the background of the card). Maybe more Team Rocket/Giovanni cards for the Rocket encounters in the Mt. Moon, Game Corner, Lavender Tower and Silph Co. You would also need more Blue cards for the Rival fights on the S.S Anne, Lavender Tower, Silph Co. and Route 22 (again). You could include a Lapras for the one gifted to you at Silph Co before your Rival fight.
I would rearrange Koffing/Grimer to come before Blaine’s cards since technically you need to go into the Pokemon Mansion to get the key to access Blaine’s gym.

Thank you for the suggestions so far! I added the suggestions I thought had a strong chance of being direct references to the gen 1 games.
I thought about this, but I’d like this to be a guide for a real binder, so I decided not to include pocket cards at this moment. Perhaps if I start collecting proxies, I will update it.

Is the Poliwhirl a reference to the fact that you can catch a Poliwhirl in the little pond in Celadon? If so, GENIUS little inclusion there.

I thought it was a reference to the NPC who has a Pokemon right outside the Pokemon Center but that is actually a Poliwrath so I think you’re right!
