Managed Payments on eBay

Anyone else see this on eBay? www.ebay.com/sh/fin/dlp

It seems eBay will process payments from PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Credit Card etc. then pay you direct to your bank account within 2 business days, this would be quite annoying especially if you were to get paid late night on a Thursday and have Friday count as 1 business day, and depending if they would consider Saturday a business day or not you might have to wait until Monday as your 2nd business day to get your payment. Also I read if a buyer opens a dispute and you lose, not only do you have to refund but now you also have to pay a $20 fee. So this could be an item not as described case, and eBay favors with the eBuyer. Overall I don’t seem to like this, any others have thoughts? I haven’t had time to read all the details yet.

Edit:
Also in the seller benefits they haven’t released the details on the fees. I am guessing since they haven’t released that info it isn’t going to benefit the seller.

Thanks, I hate it

Yeah managed payments is garbage. Takes so much longer to get paid than it used to

You are already using the system?

Yes - I opted into it several months ago and I am not a fan of the system overall

Yeah its garbage

No way! First non-refundable ppal fee, no this crap? Yeah, I’m done with ebay.

it will be just another revenue stream for ebay, there will be some sort of fees to this ā€œserviceā€. Atleast I hope this means no more paypal fees.

You would think haha… instead they assume both the part of the process that PayPal covered… AND also the fees that come along with it. If it eliminated the PayPal fees, I would actually praise ā€˜managed payments’ as an excellent improvement to the Ebay system, despite the fallbacks.

This is the incentive from Ebay to joined their managed payments → 2.7% percent processing fee instead of the 2.9% from PayPal. So your total fee to make a sale on Ebay drops from 12.9% to 12.7% and it takes 5 times as long to get your money deposited in your account.

The ONLY benefits are that it is all automatic, and people don’t have to worry about their PayPal account getting suspended leading to funds being tied up for extended periods of time.

So if someone pays via PayPal you get the 2.9% and the eBay 2.7% charge on top of your final value fee?

The additional Ebay fee replaces the PayPal fee because they cut Paypal out of the equation entirely - and to encourage you to join they save you 0.02%

What sucks about all of this is Ebay is still the best place to sell stuff if you want it sold pretty quick. Its kind like being in an abusive relationship at this point with ebay, i just keep coming back after all the bad experiences because of the majority of the time things are fine.

Exactly. If a certain new ā€˜feature’ was really that terrible, people would actually stop using eBay, but they aren’t. The service of eBay overall is just that good. They know they can get away with these things.
