total chad move tbh
Maybe he was just trying to get back the Zard he sold to get through the pandemic
“I b-b-b-bought a p-p-p-pokemon card with corona money!”
Imagine having to say that when the gang recruiter comes to check your paperwork. Poor bastard.
The real crime is not reporting WHICH card he bought.
It says that the card was purchased “for $57,789” – that should narrow it down a lot. The thing that complicates figuring out which card it was is that we don’t know if that figure includes sales tax/buyer’s premium/etc.
if he bought; vintage = based, modern = straight to jail
Yeah, for sure – could’ve been a private sale though…
Curiosity has me itching to find out

Wotc
Prior to buyer’s premium, this was roughly $57,600 at the time of purchase, and the highly specific number could be due to adding decimals to the yen conversion (I simply did 6.4M @ 0.0090 July 5 2021, but 6.4M @ 0.00903 is $57,792 for example).

Edit - from the article I gather the purchase was made in January 2021 so wouldn’t be this
He was given the money in August 2020, and 5 months later bought the card. So that would be January 2021 then roughly.
Edit: found it

Alright FBI, you blew your cover
@kpod, seems reasonable to me, free my boy - not guilty!
Wow this is ridiculous on so many levels. Very immoral considering the intent of the loan. Good they were caught.
Man that guy is such a TIMMY!
I spent 20k of my Super early release on Pokemon hehe
Someone give this a guy a medal for his accomplishment
