Mailman signing for my packages

Just looked up the tracking for my team rocket case and it was delivered earlier today. The mailman signed for it cause he’s a jackass. He’s done this before but it struck me as odd that he actually used my name this time instead of the normal gibberish signature. I’m not going to raise hell if its there when I get off work, and I know there are steps I can take to hold him accountable and get my money back if it was stolen.
My question relates to the fact that if I was to buy another one I probably won’t be able to get one at the price I paid for the first. You think they would be responsible for the extra money I’d have to spend to get one at the new price?

As a matter of policy, you need to raise this issue with the postal service regardless of whether you get your package. This is an unacceptable behavior that can jeopardize people’s possessions and render void/unapproachable the insurances they’ve paid good money for.

Wish my mailman would sign for it hahah

Better that than him not even knocking and saying “no one was home” when we are

I usually figure no harm no foul but it is getting annoying seeing things delivered and worrying all day about them. I appreciate the input.

I absolutely HATE when they just leave me a slip, but if they sign my name for it (forgery) and it gets stolen, I have no recourse. When I went to pick up a package with my slip that they could not locate, I got an insurance payout. Very important.

I know going to the post office is annoying as hell lol. I don’t like the idea of expensive things sitting on my porch tho so it’s a necessary burden.

I had a package that showed as delivered at 7:10 AM. I know he was not at my house before I left for work.

Found it on my porch. I’m going to wait for the mailman saturday and talk to him about it. My neighborhood isn’t bad but it’s certainly not a gated community.

He signed because you weren’t home and he has to deliver every package in his route. If the package requires a signature he/she might even ask your neighbor for a signature and leave a note on your door advising you he did so. I wouldn’t worry about it being stolen, after all the delivery man can’t tell what he or she is delivering, just wants to get the job done.

Edit:I knew it.

Thats definitely not on. Perhaps the mailman is perceiving this as a favour as you get your item earlier but is forgetting about tue whole point if tye signature is about assurity that you received the item safe in your hands.

He probably thought he was doing me a favor and saving me a post office visit. I’m thrilled it worked out but i’m still gonna ask him nicely just to leave a slip from now on.

Edit:

Yes I don’t think it was malicious or even laziness. I haven’t had any long conversations with the guy but he seems nice. I don’t want to call his superior and jeopardize his career at this point.

That happens so often! We have one mailman who is a very nice guy, always working very hard and always delivering on time. The only disadvantage about him is that when we have to walk from the first floor to the door to open it, he’s already to the neighbors because it took too long (read ~20 seconds xD). One of the other mailman however has done what you stated a few times. Once we were even all four at home and we still received a not home note… Like wtf… :S

Greetz,
Quuador

Do you want to wait for free time to get your package? If you piss him off, he can refuse to deliver all tracked packages to your address.

Well I’m not going to yell at him lol. Just tell him politely not to sign for signature required packages himself.

You don’t even have to yell at them, to be refuse delivery. All the carrier has to say is you were confrontational, and suddenly you must pick up up all at the Post Office.

It is your choice, I wish you the best. For myself, I wish they would leave package and not ask me to sign.

I don’t have a letter box and i have a 6ft gate at the front of my driveway. I rather go to the post office then let strangers have access to my property.

Makes sense to me. I am only able to get a post office, when it is packed.

Not trying to upset anyone with my opinion but…

I do appreciate it when the mail man does sign for me.
both my UPS person and USPS mail man have asked me about it before they started doing it and that’s why they got their tip this holiday season

They asked me for permission during a time I had received a lot of orders from Japan and it has been a time saver. Going to the Post Office in Florida is like
going to the DMV lol.

Of course, there are cameras all around our house so I’m not worried about theft. They even leave our dog cookies on top of the packages. Like I said,
our mail man is AMAZING!!!

Your mailman sounds like a good guy. I don’t think it’s wrong for a mailman to sign for packages if you ask him to. It might still be unlawful, I’m not sure, but that’s between you and him in my opinion. Doing it without asking him to tho is pretty sketchy. Especially if your package is expensive and you’re gone all day. The post office definitely does suck. Worse than the DMV. DMV people are akin to robots but post office people are straight up zombies lol.

I agree, he asked me ahead of time and I actually pre-sign them for him. Again, I do have the back up of footage around our house just in case but at least the one on my neighborhood is truly an amazing guy!
