Rudy is not wrong. Prices and times went up so much over the years that for a small collector that just wants to protect a few cards it became a very expensive and time consuming endeavour (with a high chance of up-charges because something thinks cardboard with a fire lizard on it is better than with a sunflower)

Looks like PSA will kind of force smaller submitters into the hands of dealers in the future.
I am grading my collection part by part, it will take months/years longer now.
The 50 minimum is not a problem for me, but being in Europe is.
I doubt the European PSA office will even open before the “lockdown” in USA is over.

Id guess they reopen everything and open the Europe office 1st October.

Same for me, it’s just my feeling. I also think they will open/reopen at the same time. Early October could be the time.

The lead times are the longest they have been since corona and the pricing is by far the highest its ever been and none of this has curtailed the junk slab era
In fact, it’s only getting worse by the day. Mystery boxes and breakers wont lose any money over this. They will just raise prices and or include more floors

That’s what I use(d) ACE for: grading random cards for fun and to show them off with a cool label, value be damned.
Everything being about value, fundamentals and profit makes it so boring.

Are recorders shutting down too?
If we shed even a fraction of the grifters clogging up this entire hobby over the next four months, then it is a resounding success.
Is it irritating? Absolutely. But I think considering how poorly the last year has gone, this entire industry needs to go dark, get some work done, and then we all come back with a clean slate. The only way prices and TATs ever go back down during a bull market like this is by doing exactly what they’re doing.

Is anyone good enough at math to do, like, xx million cards, xxxx emplpoyees working for 8 hours, x amount of breaks at said position for lunch, vacation…etc. Just HOW many cards each employee would have to push through, setting aside the obvious quality control issues that will undoubedetly come from this demand.
Like, how many cards we talking per hour, hell, per employee to even get this done.
Wild times. And well, it’s raw time baby.
Allegedly they are expected to grade 2 cards per minute, which is insane!
When PSA stopped services in late March 2021:
- Express resumed July 2021 (~2 month)
- Regular resumed December 2021 (~7 months)
- Economy resumed February 2022 (~9 months)
- Value resumed June 2022 (~1 year)
The difference now is that in 2021, PSA was grading approximately 15k cards a day, now they grade 100k each day, are opening new locations this year (both within the US and Europe), and are actively recruiting graders at current locations.
Will be interesting to see the outcome now..

Crazy that CGC total orders aren’t even 1/10 of the PSA North American backlog
There was an interview where someone who tried out for the role of grader said the ballpark was 700 per day

seriously everyone hates beckett? They should of just ignored the noise and completed the 9.5 to 10 conversion. People just really hate a 9.5 as a best case scenario with a 50% value to psa 10 even though its the same quality
