I am new to the forums. I have recently decided to try and collect as many different Pikachu base, promo etc… cards as I can. As a child I collected Pokémon cards during the base set, jungle etc era and luckily still have all my vintage cards, so I’d be interested in buying Pikachu base cards in lots from about 2000 onward. I’m not super up to speed on prices but would pay the going rate. Mostly just want raw cards for now. If anyone has collected steadily and has stacks of base that would contain several of the Pikachu cards, that would be great! I should mention I’m located in Canada. Thanks !
Are yo saying lots 2000 cards or lots from 2000 and newer? I’m only clarifying because most base set Pikachu in many languages are from 1999 or before.
I went through my binders and this is all I have left. Guess I sold more than I thought this month. If you want Pichu/Raichu then I probably have another 5-10… For people buying out my binder collections I’ve been charging TCGPlayer NM prices for pack fresh cards.
What are your collection goals regarding Pikachu, besides being after 2000? Only English; English and Japanese exclusives; all English and Japanese; all Pikachus regardless of language; etc.? Also, all variations (stamps / alternative holofoils / EX era codes / etc.), or just one of each artwork for now?
PS: If you’re only looking for one of each of the non-Holo Commons in each set containing a Pikachu, it might be easier to go to a webshop selling Pokémon cards and put all of them in your cart at once. That’s how my collection once started, when I bought all affordable Pikachus that were in stock on TrollAndToad.com. And look at me know, haha.
If you have any questions regarding Pikachus, feel free to contact me anytime. Oh, and welcome to the forum!
Haha, I actually think the Pokémon Company’s Pikachu collection is smaller tbh, unless you combine all their locations. In Japan the Pokémon company has (close to) all Japanese Pikachus, as they’ve displayed them in a Pokémon Center once. I’m sure they also have all English Pikachus in a safe somewhere as well. Still, my collection might not be complete, but I have all languages at one place, so I’d argue my Pikachu collection is larger than that of the individual Pokémon companies around the world. Pretty insane when you think about it actually.
As for who has a larger collection than me, that would be Tom, a collector from Belgium and online friend of mine. He also helped me quite a few times in the past with cards; I wish I could say the same towards him… he’s better in finding contacts around the world it seems. I did help him a few times, but not as much as vice-versa.
If we only look at official releases (so without errors, autographed cards, and such), he has about 25 more than me right now. Including those I’m not sure who has the larger collection. He has a lot of autographed cards. And errors I think we’ll have about an equal amount, give or take a few.
But whoever has the largest collection doesn’t really matter. We’re both going for a complete collection one day, and won’t stop anytime soon. Here is his recently started Instagram with some of his recent additions and highlights.
Thanks for all the great information, your collection sounds awesome!
Would love you check out what you have for sale as well!
As for my collection goal, basically for now, English only any different Pikachu card from any of the main sets or promos released. I realize there are Japanese exclusives, reverse holos, variants all those things. I will pick those up as I go along but I’m starting fairly casually for now and just trying to get as many with different artwork as possible! Thanks a lot ]
Np, im exclusively a Japanese collector but do occasional English. Mainly because I think the quality is much better and in today’s age, they are doing exclusive cards for collector’s vice English mass printing. Quuador will be your best bet, if you decide to do some Japanese, I can show you some that are exclusive in Japanese .
