Just pay asking price for everything. At this point, that is enough to get permanently reamed in this hobby.
Never mind that the asking price is up 50K from the last one that sold yesterday, which was up 50K from the one that sold the day before that.

Buy BGS 10 Gold label slabs of 1st ed Wotc, then crack and regrade with CGC until you get a 9.5 instead of that nasty 10 number.
Tell him to start buying up PSA 10s at a rapid pace, because itās basically a race against the clock. Because after PSA implements the AI grading, thatās the end of cards getting 10s.
Just make sure he doesnāt watch smpratteās video on the topic.
Treat everyone as you would like to be treated regardless of if you like or dislike them. Giving no advice is better than giving malicious advice; especially when someone is putting their finances on their line and trusting you. Please donāt do this.

Iād tell him that you donāt have a crystal ball and that he should just buy what cards heās passionate about. Now, someone with a genuine love for PokĆ©mon would take this advice and procure a great collection. The rest will lose interest and bow out. Something tells me heāll be in the latter camp. Problem solved.
Logal Paul went on air telling people you can make money opening vintage booster boxes (complete BS unless you pull like 4 charizards in psa 10 lol), so Iād just say that. Easy way to turn $25K to $5K in a matter of minutes haha I would feel bad for the poor guy though

Get him to open XY Evolutions booster boxes and express grade the cards via BGS. Or to buy and open ETBs from XY era.
Buy modern them decks.
Stockpile the PokĆ©mon General Mills Cereal Boxes and good keep the pack in the cereal box (will take up so much space). If he canāt buy locally, have them shipped from eBay lol

Nothing wrong with collecting them. I should have specified hoarding multiples. Last weekend a friendās friend asked if I could evaluate some of their cards. The only sealed product they had was 10-15 of each Burning shadows theme deck. I pointed out this as an example of why you canāt just go and buy any cards at the store to make large profits.
