Looking for bad advice

bit of an odd question -

my brother in law is trying to get into Pokemon after seeing my modest collection get more valuable the past few months, and he wants my advice on what to buy.

the only problem is I hate him.

so I’m looking for your worst advice, BUT it has to sound reasonable. He’s not a complete moron.

somewhere in between “buy sealed steam siege” (a little too smart) and “buy bulk fairy energy because it’s going out of print” (a little too dumb)

thanks y’all :rage:

While I don’t fully agree on the premise of giving someone bad advise intentionally, I love the thread idea.

Sooo, PSA 5-8 graded cards of the recent Mcdonald’s promo set.

But what? Modern is really good though thats not a bad advice :open_mouth:
Or do you mean buy PSA10 modern cards?

Tell him to invest in ultra beasts now because when todays kids are adults and have money, they’ll be looking for them

Thinking about it, the actually worst of worst adivse would be to buy into youtube pack openings.

Seriously. Intentionally advising someone to unknowingly throw their money away is flat out evil. The fact that this is even a thread is disturbing.

Give him the best advice ever. If he knows you hate him he will think your advice is bad.

Base set starters are where you want your money, doesnt matter if they are unlimited or in rough condition, just look at the recent jumps in value. Holding thousands of charmanders/bulbasaurs/squirtles/pikachus is a solid investment plan. Also mystery lots a a great deal if you go with the most expensive ones you can find or those mystery psa slab lots, its not like they would poorly seed them.

Alternatively, if you want him to uselessly just take up space, suggest sealed investments for the larger or oddly boxed product (premium collections mostly but also those weird sized ultra beast boxes and any other large type boxes). They also dont ship easily because of their size and weights, so they are a pain to offload. Sadly I know this from personal experience (Bought some through sales and not to flip, but they take up so much space if you keep them sealed).

Just tell him to pay the asking price on random lots listed on Facebook. Also as many mystery boxes and raffles as possible.

This is a hysterical thread premise, I gotta say.

I mean, people have to do their due diligence lol. People should research things before they purchase them. If someone tells me (without any justification) that I should buy something, I’m not just going to buy it. I’ll thank them for their suggestion and then research the fundamentals of the item in question on my own.

I don’t disagree that what the OP wants to do is pretty mean, though lol.
