I’m looking for some advice on how to properly store and take care of my collection. At my old place, the humidity was usually around 45–50%, but I recently moved into a new flat and now it’s closer to 60%.
The other day, I was sorting some holo bulk and I left it at my desk overnight, and the next day the cards were curved as hell . I bought a small dehumidifier, but now I’m worried about my sealed items and other singles/slabs as well. Tbh I had no issues for the past 6 months and all my binders etc are OK, but I don’t want to risk anything…
There are very nice dehumidifiers on Amazon that automatically turn on/off depending on the % humidity in the room. They are very easy to handle with very little maintenance/upkeep, I would highly recommend. It depends on how large of a room you have but ~$200 would get you very far in keeping your area under control humidity wise.
I have 2 or 3 of this 3d printed Silicagel - dry box inside of every box (Large plastic boxes with a gasketed seal around the edge) and I change them whenever they need it. Maybe it’s not enough for your case, but it definitely will help.
Curious if this is for aesthetic reasons or is there another reason you put the gel packets in a printed container? Thanks!
And wrt OP’s original question, I use rechargeable silica packets since I go through them quite quickly where I am. You just pop them in the microwave to recharge - pretty convenient.
