I donât necessarily disagree with you on Gary V, but Logan does appear to have some amount of genuine interest in Pokemon. Itâs not clear that heâs just in it to âpump and dump.â
With Gary V, itâs tougher to say. He doesnât appear to have much, if any, genuine interest in or connection to Pokemon. He seems to view it mostly just as an investment vehicle. I do agree that his hyping up Pokemon cards as an investment is likely at least in part due to fact that itâs in his financial interest for the market to continue soaring. Still, the guy has a 160 million dollar net worth. I donât think thereâs enough upside for him to just âpump and dump.â Like, it would be a significant time investment for a pretty meager profit. The guy mostly just seems to be interested the investment potential of alternative assets. I think thatâs the primary motivator for him, though I could be wrong. I donât believe youâre totally off-base. But I do think youâre being a bit too cynical.
Difficult to say their long term intentions. Pump and dump is just another way to say vocal flippers, and I donât think you can gauge that thatâs what theyâre doing quite yet.
Regardless, overall I think you are overestimating their influence and ability to manipulate the market and are underestimating the amount of genuine interest in the collecting side of the hobby.
Saying âthe state of the hobby has become one of pure greedâ is quite frankly a cynical, tunnel visioned perspective that I donât think has any verifiable merit. The reality is most people in this hobby really, actually like Pokemon. There are some who could care less about the cards and only care about the money, but a majority of people in this hobby have at least some degree of core interest.
Iâve watched a couple Gary Vee videos and in the few Iâve watched, he has said that he has not sold a single on of his cards. Can you show me evidence he is dumping or has in the past 3 or so years he has been back into cards? I guess he could be lying but again seems to be just uninformed hate on certain personalities.
It is indeed, people here usually mock you if you say stuff like this, The market is something global, its only US but i do understand people speaking from experience to whatâs close to them.
Logan and Gary V are so damn rich I donât think it even benefits them to pump and dump⊠so yeah I donât think thatâs whatâs happening here lol

Ah yes. Rich people always act ethically. They also feel they have enough money and are happy throwing it around. They donât put an enormous amount of effort to grow and hold their wealth. Doesnât feel like you have much experience with rich people
not saying this is a pump and dump, but it is a silly statement to say that anyone is so damn rich they wouldnât want to make more money
When youâre in this hobby you sort of just assume anyone with a collection has their ear to the ground, but Iâm realizing just how many thousands of people have no idea what they have.
yeah the being rich = u can do whatever you want comments iâm seeing here are kinda bothering me. i definitely agree that the idea that gary v and logan paul are executing a pump and dump has been backed up with no evidence, but iâm not sure the reason we should call that statement silly is because âits their money & and they can do whatever they want.â
Thats a fair point, but I think people are getting into conspiracy theory territory with a lot of this stuff calling them pump and dumpers, I am just saying what do they really have to gain at the end of the day from all of this when they could easily make more money elsewhere.
Really good point, I totally expect this to pull out boxes/cards that would have never been graded/sold to come out of the wood works. Whether that will off set increased demand? I doubt it.
