I’m late to the party on this thread, but WOW, WHAT A COLLECTION! As someone who has been actively piecing together a modest collection for almost 30 years, much respect for what you’ve accomplished! Seeing all of these cards together brings me so much joy . . . just hoping more SNAP Magikarp’s and Pikachu’s emerge to finish off that display.
Can anyone confirm . . . there have only been one SNAP Magikarp and one SNAP Pikachu publicly sold, right?
I’ve been following the threads and checking out the official site/videos, and I think the “negativity” or “jealousy” you mentioned isn’t actually that. It’s just the community doing their due diligence and noticing a massive gap between how you’re talking to us on the forums and how the project is actually being marketed.
On the forums, you’re saying you’re a “tired student” just sharing a “silly childhood dream” that’s “not about the money.” But the website tells a completely different story. We’re looking at high-end brand assets, a professional Media Kit, “Expert Insight” videos, and luxury-tier copywriting. Normal family hobbies don’t usually launch with a PR firm and a “visionary legacy” brand identity.
It feels a bit “smoke and mirrors” to lean on a “humble student” persona while attempting to run a sophisticated commercial campaign for an off-market sale. This may keep potential buyers or as you indicate in here the “correct” buyer away which does seem disingenuous.
Nonetheless it’s nice to see the cards out. Do you plan to show them off more in more images (specially the rarer harder to find cards) or are they locked away for the foreseeable?
I agree with the smoke and mirrors feeling. To be honest, I’m not invested in this in any kind of serious way, but more in just a casual investigative sense it would be cool to get to the bottom of this mythical collection.
Earlier in this thread long-time collectors confirmed it was the ‘Urs’ collection. Today I saw a comment on the Penquinz video linking something in the promo video to a multi-billionaire with a Wikipedia page who coincidentally shares that name
