So PSA having scans of all graded cards is probably a big move
Extract from PSA’s statement announcing their acquisition of Genamint.
“It will also provide unique card identification – or “card fingerprinting” – by identifying the exact card in order to track provenance, resubmissions, condition changes and other attributes over time.“
It’s possible xiao is the real owner, submitted these cards, cracked them, reslabbed with lower grades, and then resubmitted the original 10s to start the process all over again. Who knows though, could be more or less elaborate than that.
I recently sold this mewtwo to xiao, everything was very smooth and I recieved a wire before sending the card, and I also know of poeple who have done pretty high end transactions with him just fine. So my impression of him so far has been that he is serious high end collector so theese news are chocking to me if they are true.
I just can’t wrap my head around what his motive would be, to earn money? Why go through so much effort for a $600 card when your pockets are infinitely deep?
Eitherway, I am posting a poor photo of the card I sold him incase it gets involved into something fishy…
I think these two posts will have the answers you’re looking for:
Grading companies could do better, such as making more secure labels, and making it impossible to crack a slab without damaging the label.
That moment when I did a sale to him last night.
I’m really curious on what PSA means by legal action in China. I’ve never seen this type of fraud before. Especially in the trophy sector.
Chinese collectors are the ones spreading awareness and posting about this right now
And i’m sure that card was worth quite a bit more and probably with a unique holo-pattern as oppose to the shining mewtwo
Well the good news is their fake slab looks easy to detect (if you know what to look for), and is very consistent. So atleast people can identify the fake ones.
I agree, I’m no expert but some of these slabs look relatively easy to make fakes of.
It’s not too late to do an about face!
I agree but wouldn’t you think they would just improve the process and fix the problems now that its being brought up? Then we would need authenticators to authenticate the authenticated cards and so on and so forth
Thank you for sharing, and putting this together
If Xiao is a scammer, he is not a very smart person.
You don’t risk your reputation on a Kindra Prime.
You would have covered the cert number of all PSA’s that you post to avoid PSA deactivating them expecting such a day may come.
To that point, one of my first thoughts was “If this person sold on ebay and had to go through the Authenticity Guarantee program, would they authenticate it?” At first glance I never would’ve been able to tell the difference, and the labels are intact and unblemished so it absolutely would’ve fooled me! I am curious what steps they take to Guarantee the slab itself is genuine as well
smpratte’s worst nightmare is coming true. Nothing is safe! Everyone is going to claim everything is fake nothing is real. Its been resealed!
