Jopo's slime army

What an amazing display! And such a diversity in items. I love everything about it.

Now that is a 10/10 display!
I love the hama bead (if that’s what they are called?) pixel art of grimer and muk!

@D3F14NC3 @lyleberr all gen 1 pokemon have so much japanese merch that i can be quite selective about what looks good on display and if it has a lot of colours it often looks good, alolan muk also naturally is quite a rainbow of colours  they are dittos, i’ve been contemplating if they belong in the display but since at least now there’s room for them they can be slime

@lamplamp i used uv protection film, it was plain horror to attach and i had to fix it several times but after that the end results looks very good unless you watch it really close or know where some of the imperfections are and focus on them. It’s luckily also very easy to block direct sunlight in addition to the film in this room

@Bingbong it’s bandai carddass jumbo animation card, here is a thread with discussion about them  it’s one of my favourite items in my collection since it’s the only item presenting this many grimer or muk in one place, i love that while that anime episode highlighting my slime boys has close to zero merch made of it this card does exist

@azulryu your display is probably the main inspiration and reason i made my display so i’m glad that it can proudly follow the path you set up

@bbobrob still waiting for the day you ditch the useless plates out of your kitchen cabinet and put that space in use cabinets were made for :relieved:

@Quuador i’m expecting your incoming non-tcg seviper post outshine my display by miles but i’m still glad you enjoyed it

@TheMarillFoundation there are several brands making similar beads but yes, these indeed are hama beads, very therapeutic stuff and basically any sprite found online can be created with them, i strongly suggest to try them out

Wow, awesome display! The sheer variety is just astounding. Of course every item has a story to tell as well. Thanks for sharing! Looks truly lovely!

Cheers!

Thank you! The variety of available merch for all gen 1 pokemon is indeed something that helps with projects like my display  about the stories tho, a lot of them are like “oh this looks nice, i’ll press buy” but that’s a story too i guess, just a bit short one

Every time I see nice displays of people’s items, I do think about how most of my stuff is just sitting in a box for now  They’ll come out one day, but I have to put some thought into (and have the wife agree to) the eventual display.

Remember that it’s always easier to ask forgiveness than to get permission, also it’s not so bad to sleep on a couch!

I highly doubt it. Gen 3 doesn’t have nearly as much cool stuff as gen 1. But I did acquire quite a few items over time, so it’ll defintely have been worth the (very, very long) wait.

But I’m working on it. I’m almost done with all pictures, and am taking measurements of everything. I want to post something similar as Shuckle collecting guide by ZaneAT (TCG, bootlegs, stickers, pogs, merch and more) in my collection thread for Seviper.

Even though i’ve left bootlegs out of my wants i admit it’s a cool one, almost a shiny one :pikarelief:

Another batch of new slime additions (also several very exciting ones), mainly from my latest buyee order but some other goodies too like the first one. I fully only collect english and japanese tcg but i’ve so far gotten all exclusive stamped promos from other languages, so this indonesian Gramedia stamped grimer promo is a nice new addition.

Then a lot of flats with several items worth mentioning. The bandai kids mini grimer should leave me with only one back variant to find for grimer, i included the back od this addition in photo too. The pogs are also exciting ones, the condition isn’t best possible but they are the first Baltic exclusive items in my collection and it’s always highly interesting to get niche releases from different parts of the world! Also the top left sticker is a panini release from Brazil and iirc that too is my first non-tcg release from there. The bottom pair ones are popping candy mini bags from Korea, i foolishly only bought one pair so i had to make another order to have one sealed pair and to open one pair to have the wrappers in my binder (and also to taste the candy :pikarelief: )

Few more flats, i have no idea what the top one is but it got me off guard how big it was as it just barely fits in my jumbo card binder, but it adds some nice variety there! And about bottom row, very glad to have found the battle card e+ muk & swalot since the first copy i bought got lost during shipping, hate it when that happens since you can never be sure when is the next time seeing such niche items for sale. Also i’m not completely sure about the second battle e+ card but i couldn’t figure the shadow being anything else than grimer so bought it for the collection, would help if i knew some japanese to know what it says on the shadow since it definitely doesn’t say grimer

Another one that i’m super glad to find was this pokemon horizons jigsaw puzzle. Pokemon horizons anime’s name in japan apparently is just “pocket monsters” which really doesn’t help trying to find the merch. The other item in photo is another banpresto battle chip sheet with some slime on it which make some awesome display pieces (even though i have to admit i’m starting to run out of space in my display cabinet since they also are quite large ones)

Then some oddballs, a pencil case from pokemon horizons merch, a gengar stapler with some pixel grimers printed on the packing and a tape roll with grimer included in the tape art

I saved the best for last and it’s actually a massive addition for me, not one but two new snack sticker holos! They are the first pokemon flats released and the holo pattern they chose for the release is just gorgeous. The grimer is the last variant for grimer i needed and the muk was the first so i now have 5 out of 8 stickers to find, super glad that the first muk i found was a holo since they are definitely tough to find and pricy ones. The three missing muk stickers are right at the top of my wanted slime items, only the cosmos foil fossil muk being above them, so really hoping i keep being lucky with finding them.

What a wonderful update! I love reading your write-ups and seeing all of your new slime additions. The school supplies especially are merch I don’t see often (other than something like pens), so those are very cool to see! Congratulations again on all of the new pickups!

The shadow says “yomikomichu” which means “loading” by the way!

Thank you for kind words and the translation, didn’t give any hints towards anything but also didn’t deny anything so i’m still confident it belongs in slime army😄

Of course, your write-ups are always a pleasure to read through! I’d say the shadow definitely looks like a slime to me!

The snack attack! Awesome pickups, and the snack stickers look to be in pretty good condition too. The loading Grimer looks like he’s flashing a peace sign :v:

Great update post!

I got my US middleman service package and it had some sweet slime additions that are finally home, some after waiting for them well over a year. To kick it off this nice smudged stamp team rocket grimer, even though i’ve almost fully paused my error additions this was one that i really wanted. I like those smudged stamps a lot and i already bought one but the seller sent me a regular 1st ed copy instead so it was very nice to finally get an actual copy

After that the cards i was probably the most excited of in the package, leafgreen poker deck grimer and muk which should be the final cards i needed to have all officially released grimer and muk poker cards! I’ve grown extremely fond of pokemon poker cards so it’s awesome to tick off this mini collection goal

Then another exciting one since for longest time i didn’t realise these existed but i managed to bump into both regular and canadian master trainer board game grimer cards from 2005, apparently that year edition of the game is quite scarce since i’ve only bumped into these single copies (or people just don’t care to list them anywhere)

Then some loose cards and pogs. That bandai kids mini card was unfortunately in a bit rough shape so might replace that later, but nevertheless that leaves me with only 4 back variants to find to complete that mini collection too!

After that a fun one, a sealed stack of pokemon league scoreboards with muk presented in the backside! It was interesting that my middleman service let it go through without any issues since they normally only allow cards or other flats but this was a fat stack of paper in plastic, i thought i only bought a single sheet but can’t complain to have the whole stack sealed

And finally a recent release, bromides alolan muk with a beautiful holo pattern! Alolan muk being presented in horizons anime has provided steadily multiple new non tcg items for me to buy which has been very fun experience since outside some crazy pokemon center releases my guys don’t normally really get that many new items, especially flats like this one and some of the stickers in my previous updates

What a fantastic update! The cards from the Master Trainer board game seem especially interesting. It’s really cool that you got the whole stack of scoreboards! I think having them sealed adds a lot to the rarity of the item, so I salute you for that!

Since I’m relatively new to serious collecting, it’s a pleasure to see someone who has been collecting for such a long time adding these great items to their collection. Not just because you’re expanding your collection, but because I find the items themselves so exciting and interesting. It’s unbelievable to see all the merch they put out – and you’re bringing some order to this chaos by dedicating so much attention to those two guys.

Keep the updates coming! It’s fascinating to accompany your progress – not least because it’s something I aim for myself. :+1:
