thanks. that’s really frustrating! I suppose nothing to be done about it right now anyways. I’m definitely going to solicit some forum advice before I send in my raw cards. I will also need advice on having some of the graded cards reviewed as the consistency is all over the place.
Beautiful collection man! Loving the way you present it. Which sleeves do you use for the cards in your binders?
thanks! I use ultra pro standard size clear deck protector sleeves.
they’re on the more rigid side of sleeves and not as clear as some of the thinner sleeves. but once the card is in there you can handle it very safely and it’s easy to move the card in and out of the binder. I was using tighter, thinner sleeves before and it was making me worry I was going to damage the cards when I would pull them out of the binder to look at them. If I was playing with the cards and double-sleeving these would be too thick. But they’re great for binders IMO
Damn what a collection you have. That base 1st edition is so awesome to see
thanks man! I have a lot more to post soon. Still need to post skyridge and other e-series, gold stars, shinings, neo sets etc
O wow. My collecting rate is much slower and on another level, mostly because prices ain’t like they used to be… Haha.
Really looking forward on those neo cards of yours. Congrat on what you achieved.

me going through this thread
ha!
Finally… someone else who understands cracking 9s for binders!
a 9 is pretty much guaranteed to give that pack fresh feel. I’ve also learned that I will probably obsessively upgrade if I don’t get it right. That card that doesn’t fit will just eat at me… and then I end up having to find a better copy. the 9 gives pretty high insurance that I will only have to purchase the card once. I also fantasize that some day if I ever re-grade the cards, some percentage of these 9s are going to get bumped up to 10s. But in my fantasy none of them downgraded to 8s or worse either…
Ahaha I don’t do the regrade fantasies. I just like taking cards out of my binder to look at them and having them be MINT. Otherwise yes it bothers me! When they are high value and a good shot at 10 I grade them. But then I have to buy a 9 and crack it to replace. I currently have a stack that I’m waiting to get some high tech case cutter first cause I’m not risking a wrench and screwdriver for some of these cards.
well we are kindred spirits in a sense. I like that same feeling. but yes too “perfect” and there is the urge to grade it. 9 is just right
I have only damaged one card cracking it out of the case. It was an EX-Charizard secret rare from one of the early ex sets, PSA 8 actually. Not very high value. I was not paying close enough attention and was impatient and kind of pulled the card out of the case and it got a slight bend. Of course I got right on ebay and ordered a PSA 9 of the same card
cards in cases are very nice to look at. But too many and you can’t appreciate them because they get stored in a box. that’s why binders are the best.
I keep my favorite PSA cards in binders too but they take up a lot of room. Most of the graded cards I posted here are in rigid plastic binder holders for graded cards. I have maybe 10 binders of those, and the rest of the PSA 10 “filler” goes in the cardboard boxes where it never sees the light of day
I’ve been thinking about PSA binders for 1st Ed. Base Set. I used to be a lot more confident cracking… I got fed up trying to find mint ungraded Aquapolis holos for a binder set and just bought a PSA 9 set. Maybe one or two nicks on not valuable cards for the whole set. Whereas a few months back I cracked a gold star Latias 9 for signing and butchered it, scraped a silver line across the front pretty bad. Had planned to crack a Charizard 9 for signing as well but after that no way.
Cost and viewing are the two reasons I have so many raw cards. I wish I had all mint ones like you but I’m guessing you have been collecting longer and had more disposable cash to spend on building your collection. I’m sure you guys know finishing even Holo sets gets pricey. Or crystals gold stars or shinings etc. Also Aquapolis and Skyridge arnt exactly cheap to complete. There’s nothing better than flipping thru binders and occasionally taking them out to view in the light
Wow sounds like a horror story my friend

Please do. I have to get around to a simple binder video myself. Much better than pics. Also I really want Aquapolis and Skyridge holo’s those even raw are pretty pricey last time I checked and this was before price increases months ago. I completed expedition holo’s as well love those holo’s. But I skipped the rest of E series because they are priced out of current budget but someday I’ll get them
