Hi E4, I’ve been looking at my favourite cards from the XY era and looking to potentially buy some of them. Normally I go for Japanese cards for the better quality, but looking specifically at the Shaymin ex and Yveltal ex UR from The Best Of XY the texturing doesn’t look as good as their English promo counterparts.
Can someone with both of the cards tell me if that is the case? If so did XY English have a better print quality than Japanese or was it because they are promo’s in English?

I have both of the Yveltal and I definitely prefer the Japanese. The texture is subtle and doesn’t pop in scans as much but in person it is fantastic. You really need to see the card in person to fully appreciate it.

I’ve seen @qwachansey share some Japanese XY fullarts on Insta and they definitely look better than ours. English from this era does still look great, mind.

is there actually a case where an english print is the better version of one card, apart from when the japanese never had a holo version ? just curiosity

I’m not aware of any but it would be interesting if there was an instance of that happening
