Japan Post to delay shipping to Europe and Africa

(March 9, 2026)
Due to the escalating impact of the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, restrictions have been placed on the loading of mail and cargo bound for that region. As a result, air and sea routes to and from neighboring regions, such as Europe and Africa, are experiencing significant congestion, leading to delays in delivery.

Depending on future developments, we may be forced to return accepted mail to customers.

If you wish to retrieve mail that has already been posted, this is possible as long as the mail has not yet been prepared for shipment at the post office handling international mail (International Mail Exchange Office). Please note, however, that a handling fee of 680 yen may apply.

Please also be aware that mail sent from the Middle East to Japan may similarly experience delivery delays.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
