Yea and I wouldn’t return it simply because the seller was pretty honest on grade. I always hate when people ask for a return when the card is basically right on the money. I had to do a return for a “graded” card from Canada. It cost me almost half the price of the card because the jerk made me pay shipping. I say if you really want to return it then do the right thing and pay shipping. Near Mint is not Mint after all by PSA standards and ungraded cards are almost a “risk” not a sure thing.
I know you are talking PSA, but here’s my Beckett 8.5. Might help from some perspective when compared to yours. I personally think yours is a solid PSA 7. It’s that larger nic on the rear side above the middle that keeps it from being anything higher, and depending on the grader, could make it a 6. But the holo is perfect, I don’t see how it could possibly be lower.
Sorry not the greatest photos. Early morning coffee-shakes ; D
Why not? That is really the only way I sell cards because so many people out there look to grade. I probably would have sold that as a LP-NM definitely not a PSA 8+. Anytime I am selling a card that isn’t mint I be sure to state that it isn’t a PSA 8/9/10 so people can’t be upset when a card of “non gradable” quality like the one you have comes in.
PSA just so happens to have the most ubiquitous grading scale in the hobby so it isn’t unreasonable to use theirs. It is a bit odd specifically what they call some of their middle grades (looking at you EX-MT) but it is what everyone knows.
I kind of understand this. Before I discovered PSA, what I thought of as a “near mint” card looked closer to what would be a PSA 8. Most 7s that I see I would have called “excellent” prior to becoming aware of PSA standards.
If you hate silvering stay away from Jungle. If PSA didn’t give leeway for silvering none of those would ever get 10s.
If you want a Japanese charizard look up “Hiromiyo” on eBay, he uploads a ton of photos for each card. I bought a “Excellent” conditon one from him and it got a 9.
