Just like the title says, I’m wondering if two cards can have the same/similar holo pattern. Some back story…
I was browsing Youtube like usual, and I came across Leonhart’s video about losing a base Charizard and a crystal Nidoking during shipment to PSA.Leonhart has too much enthusiasm for me, but he doesn’t deserve to have his cards stolen. So like the lost trophy Mewtwo card, I was wondering if the holo pattern can be traced.
I’m not going to try tracing the holo pattern on a base Charizard, but the crystal Nidoking should be easier.I took this screenshot from the video:imgur.com/a/17U8SbI
And on this eBay item number 203055482079:imgur.com/a/nSpQd2o
Now, I’m not accusing anyone of theft. That is a battle best left for someone else.I’m just wondering what are the chances.Thank you.
Yes, but very rare and never perfectly identical. Sieds is a big time seller… I doubt it’s Leon’s and so it’s probably one of those rare cases. Also, I think the cert # is off for it to be Leon’s. And also his wasn’t graded when it was lost if I’m not mistaken.
Yeah, Leonhart’s wasn’t graded.
I’m not sure about the cert #, but it may have been graded since then. And yeah, I highly doubt Sieds would do this, but if someone offered a good price, Sieds may have bought it.Who knows. And yeah, the holo pattern between the two cards are very similar, but I’m not sure if it’s the angle of the PSA case that makes it a little harder to see.
I’m more than sure @gottaketchumall can explain the origin of the graded Nidoking.
Yeah, that certification # would have been graded between April-June of 2019. It’s not Leon’s but you sure have a good eye
damn. I guess the case of the stolen cards are still open
It’s the best effort I’ve seen. Good on you
I made a thread 10 hours ago about this same question since I found two Gyarados in my collection with the same holo: www.elitefourum.com/t/what-are-the-chances-of-having-the-exact-same-holo-pattern/28633/1
The Nidoking came along with a sizable completely PSA graded e-series purchase that I made a couple weeks ago (No base 1st Charizard included). I am glad the certification number proves it isn’t the same as you never really can be 100% sure with collection buys that they are all legitimately owned by the seller. The thread @azulryu made showing two near identical holo patterns is interesting and it would have been more troubling if my Nidoking was a fresh grade.
I did speak in depth with the collector that I purchased from and had no red flags pop up throughout the process or our conversations. I’ve never knowingly experienced it myself, but have heard from friends who backed out on potential deals when details or the seller themselves were shady. From what I’ve heard this has mostly came up with Craiglist or FB Marketplace type video game or phone purchases.
I heard vaguely about a lost Charizard for Leonhart and just decided to watch the video. That sucks. Sounds like he sent it registered. Hopefully it pops up somewhere. I’ve sent and received registered a couple dozen times and always insure it for the full value (or likely potential value if they are raw). I’ve never had an issue. The collection I talked about buying above was sent registered as well.
