Idea for large collectors

I was wondering if @smpratte or some other large collectors have thought about streaming on Twitch. You could show off cards in your collection, discus cards and collecting with people, build a following and it would also bring more people into collecting.

The only issue there is, it takes time, time is money aswell  thats why alot have patreon accounts etc.

If you’re not playing a game or something, I have a hard time seeing that being something you could really do for more than 30 minutes. More so if there aren’t significant viewers immediately.

A good way to approach this I think would be to stream Pokemon Trading Card Game Online (Free) with a webcam and having rare cards (illustrator, trophy cards in smpratte’s case) in the shot, and then using that to bring discussion about card collecting/investing with viewers. A streamer could show off binder collections during the opponents turn.

I honestly think youtube is a better platform for collection-videos overall. You could always do a live stream on youtube if you wanted to have live interaction and possible get some Q&A going. The time/effort it would take to start building a new community on twitch seems to outweigh the reward in my opinion. Just my 2 cents.

Twitch is for video gaming related content. This is not the right platform to show off your collection.

for the people immediately dismissing it there is quite a large pokemon tcg community on twitch that shows up when something is actually being streamed.

and I’m not just talking about boogie2988 opening packs every night and getting 5-10k veiwers

if you build it, they will come

The community you speak of is for the actual game, what most of us are doing is collecting the physical cards.
What makes me skeptical of “trying to make a stream on Twitch showing your collection, discussing cards and collecting” is not because I think there are no people on twitch who would be interested in it, but rather that Twitch is not a platform that is being used for any kind of collecting. Youtube is.
A typical streamer puts on hours and hours of content daily. While a typical youtuber maybe uploads one video a week.

Of course it could be possible to do it on twitch, but I think Youtube is a much better platform.

I plan to make 3 youtube videos soon; binder collection, PSA collection & sealed collection. Going to be great!

It’s an interesting concept. I personally think that you might be onto something there with a twitch stream. Back in the day, another friend used to do box opens on twitch and so there used to be at least 20-50 people watching every time they did those openings. It was great because people would react to the pulls in real time, and there was time to stop and discuss pulls or artwork. I think it would or could be a great idea to do a twitch to build a pokemon community because not one collector knows all. We all specialize in certain areas, but as a community, it would be cool to see someone or a few people talking in real time and then people could ask questions in real time. The things I could relate to this would be the shoutbox at the bottom of the site that no one ever uses LOL or an idea of a podcast where we could talk about certain subjects. I know in the past they thought about doing a podcast for this site but I think all the administrative team was busy at the time.

By having a twitch channel, people could ask questions and if the “experts” or large collectors as you called us, wouldn’t be able to answer, sometimes viewers know a lot too ^^

That’s my 2 cents.

Yea twitch can be used for things other than video games. People use it for many things such as crafting, making things on video, role play streaming, etc.

good luck  Im intending to start a yt channel soon…i hope ha! A name is a good start  I still need to think of one

Never streamed anything live but really need to reorganize my cards and streaming while doing that sounds like a fun way to show off my collection! So I may actually try this next week when I have time.

I’d rather watch collecting videos on YouTube, personally. There’s just no need for it to be live.

If someone had a lot of passion and knowledge of Pokemon cards also a great personality it would be perfect. I wouldn’t expect to get huge donations but just doing it for the love of the game and to interact with people and talk about what you love. If you are not in it for the money who cares if you get 5 people streaming or 100+ people streaming, you would just be doing it for your own personal enjoyment. For me personally though I would be boring to watch live.
