I haven't received my cards and the seller has gone dark.

I found a seller online using pokemoncardmarket.eu who had some boosters for sale (among a lot of other stuff). Since we’re both based in the UK, I offered to do a private purchase (I know, I know) But only offered to accept the deal after I’ve paid for 1st class signed delivery and using paypal.

He was very quick to sort me out with how much it’d cost and what email address to pay. After that, I haven’t heard from him at all. I used Paying a Business so I should be covered by Buyer Protection, and I have tried to contact him (through email and pokemoncardmarket.eu) every two days asking if he’s received the money, and if there’s been any update on sending the boosters out.

I made the purchase last Friday, and though I didn’t hear a confirmation from him then, I decided to give him a day, then the weekend, and then asked Monday afternoon, and then today for an update.
But surely regardless of if I seem a bit keen and anxious, if it were the other way round I’d completely understand a buyer asking me for an update.

So either he’s completely lazy, or a scammer.

On top of this I have found his phone number online so I was planning on giving him a call before opening a case with Paypal at the weekend.

If you guys were in this situation, what would you do? Is it appropriate to call him, or at this stage should I still be giving him the benefit of the doubt?

Thanks for the help.

If he is not responding to you I would open up a case, he may respond during/after that

give him a call, if that fails open a dispute

Okay, as if by magic, he’s labelled as “on vacation” now on pokemoncardmarket.eu (he wasn’t yesterday).

I’ll be sticking with my initial plan of calling him on Friday as whether he’s telling the truth or not, if he has time to update his profile, he has enough to time to quickly say “Sorry, I’ll contact you later.”

Thanks for just confirming my course of action though.

Message him and ask if that is his right phone number and address. That could ruffle his feathers;)

How much did you pay him?

Open a case, there’s no need to go soft on someone whose blatantly ignoring you, also don’t believe any sob story, just ask for what’s yours or get a refund if possible and buy somewhere else.

Sorry I didn’t reply to this sooner.

Long story short, didn’t hear from him even when I called his phone. Ended up opening a dispute with Paypal and it was elevated to a claim very quickly.

edit 07/02: Paypal paid me in full yesterday after not hearing from the guy at all. What did he expect?
