I GOT SCAMMED - FAKE 1st edition charizard base from ebay.

The sellers name says it all. Sorry you got scammed. I hope the claim is straight forward and you get your money back.

eBay sides with buyer most of the time. Open INAD case, you’ll win and seller is forced to give you 100% refund.

Depends on the country. Where I live this mostly goes unpunished due to the fact that the police does (I) not have the manpower and (II) not give priority to it.

I understand that the authorities have to make certain choices but that unfortunately means that this type of criminality stays as it is.

Do you know what his name is on those accounts? Would be good to keep an eye out.

Variations on the name Jayden Toretto

The safety pins are worth more then the Charizard… Sorry to hear that, what was the going price of the listing? I didn’t see the response.

It could be a possibility that they just lack the knowledge. Also, I think if I went to law enforcement to say I got scammed X amount of $ on a Pokemon card, they would laugh and not even take me seriously.
Pretty much the answer to your question: "Does theft not matter if the victims are people who like Pokémon cards? ", Yes it does not, sadly.

I need to wait until eBay step in to review case in 7 days.

You should report it to the local force (they will take it seriously - just make sure you give them all the facts, how much you paid, the sellers intentions/behaviour). The individual is making fraudulent items.

He’s probably still operating because no one in the UK (the previous victims) have bothered to report it or they failed to report it properly. It should be an open and shut case to prevent this individual ever making/selling these counterfeit items again.

Because states are too busy protecting illegal criminals and ms-13 gangsters. They got no time to protect you.

Got to love that item description: “Card has been kept in a sleeve and screw toploader…” - Because when it is in a screwed toploader, you know it’s legit.

In all seriousness though, this is absolutely disgusting behaviour. And the most stupid thing is, he would almost certainly be getting better returns if he dedicated the same amount of time and effort into building a legitimate business.

The type of scum that never stops scamming until they will feel the hard consequences, unfortunately I think that will never happen.

These particular zards have become accessible on many sites now, etsy ebay etc but that idiot only made the situation worse

I’m honestly just curious why people even try this? If I spend 1000 dollars on a card do they not think I’m going to know it’s fake? Especially a non holo example like this? How do they gain if they have to refund peoples money for every sale.

@jcedwards89, because all it takes is one unassuming person to make an easy $1k. it’s also possible that they just hacked someone else’s account.

I feel bad because I have a real foul taste in my mouth with UK sellers. I was scammed by one when I first started collecting and I have seen multiple threads and posts throughout various platforms and it has been mainly from the UK. Glad you got your money back!

There are still plenty of good ones out there

I think a key thing to bear in mind is that if something looks too good to be true it often is especially with expensive and iconic cards, treat with caution/suspicion.

Of course, I understand, I was just bitter. It was also when I was new to collecting :sob:

Seen this guy on Reddit advertising his “custom cards”. They’ll always keep coming back.
