How to pay no sales tax on ebay purchases

I had NO idea this was a thing as Oregon purchases have no sales tax. First method is to make a PWCC vault and send stuff there.

But the second is to register your business as a reseller through ebay here: www.ebay.com/help/buying/paying-items/paying-tax-ebay-purchases?id=4771

Highly recommend people do this, sharing in case they didn’t know. They’re pretty lax with accepting the forms too

edit: this is only legal if you’re an actually reseller. Don’t be naughty and do it if you’re not. Also don’t sue me thanks

That’s 14%. Did you think that was 100% of the federal budget lol.

Your parents taxes for the last 50 years, and mine too, paid for our Medicare anyway.

At the end of the year, wouldn’t you now have to pay state taxes in Oregon?

There’s more than one “state tax” for example: State income tax. State sales tax.

Yeah you’d have to pay state income tax in Oregon now. I’m in TX where we have no state income tax so it wouldn’t make sense to save on sales tax and end up having to file and pay state income tax elsewhere.

Why would you be paying state income tax on a purchase?

My bad. I misread it. Thought the OP was also using this tactic to sell inventory.

Minimizing taxes as a seller is just a whole other world lol but have loved so much of my stuff that hasn’t been as much of an issue as everything I’ve sold I just have reinvested in other cards I loved

You would have to pay a use tax to the state that you live in. However, the state doesn’t bother to audit small taxpayers for use tax. They typically go after wealthy people that are purchasing luxury items like boats, cars, jewelry etc. You would have to be doing a lot of activity to show up on the radar so to speak. In terms of sales tax, most states go after businesses instead and try to improve compliance on that end.
