How to authenticate a Base Set Booster box?

I’m looking at buying one locally. What signs do I look for? I’m going to see it in person.

Bring up pics of eBay auctions and copy them from all angles. Then compare the pics with the box when it’s in hand. That’ll give you your best shot of identifying a fake or rewrap.

2nd what Gary said. Look up previous auctions from well known and established sellers. Some of the most common signs I see of fake boxes are no wizards logo on the wrap (if it’s a green wing box it may not have those and still be legitimate) and a loose wrap or seal. The wrap should be nice and tight on the box and compare the seals with other authentic boxes. If it just looks messy in general be cautious.

Scott talks in this video about the look and feel of the plastic, so you’ll get a sense of what to look for when picking it up in person.
