How often do your Ebay standard envelopes go "Missing"?

The 20$ ebay envelope is a bessing and a curse, but it annoys me how often they dont update tracking or delivery and I end up doing a full refund. I assume this is because USPS employees treat them as regular envelopes and dont scan them at each checkpoint/delivery, but its such an annoying issue because my other mail rarely ever goes undelivered.

How often do you see these go missing as a seller?

  • 75-90% of the time
  • 50-75% of the time
  • 30-50% of the time
  • 15-30% of the time
  • 0-15% of the time

I have never used them for this reason alone.

Without them it removes the entire 5-20$ card market from being eligible to sell

Probably sent a few hundred since launch. Not one single one went “missing”.

I weekly have to explain to customers that “yes it’s coming, yes I see tracking says nothing” it’s annoying to constantly have to have that conversation

I don’t think I’ve lost any since they implemented tracking, and I think I’ve sent maybe in the low hundreds? Shouldn’t they be insured for up to $20—have you tried claiming insurance the “lost” ones? Losing 15% would drive me nuts.

I wonder if it’s the buyer pool (i.e. people that know they can take advantage of wonky tracking). I’ve sold mostly non-TCG stuff, which I feel like might go to nicer people.

I’ve never tried an insurance claim lol I’d be filing them weekly

I haven’t had any issues with standard envelopes yet. Most of the time if the tracking gets stuck it’s stuck on “Out for Delivery.” No claims from buyers thankfully.

That market is not with the hassle.

Do they never recieve the initial scan? Or just the final scan? If it’s the former, it might be just your local post office.

I’ve had extremely good luck with ebay standard envelopes as a buyer. They used to stress me out with phantom delivery scans with delivery 1-5 days later, but I’m over that after 0 issues.

However, if I were a seller, I’d constantly be worried unscrupulous buyers would take advantage of the frequent lack of delivery scans.

I cant recall the last one that went missing. I have had them not show up for weeks after they are supposed to be delivered.

I never wrote this down, but If I remember correctly, mine has been 5% occurrence rate for tracking failures or disruptions, and tracking most often dies or traffic gets mis-directed in South Carolina, Florida, Illinois, and Los Angeles. This is not a sitch where tracking is stuck on “out for delivery” but where it is in transit then goes MIA. Sometimes it’s delivered sometimes, buyer claims it’s lost. (I’ve had no problems the last several months.)

Vegas is another offender, but they just arbitrarily say “This address is wrong” or “The envelope does not meet the requirements” and my favorite “Your address is not real.” My post office has literally said, “Someone in vegas should be fired.”

Only one time here. Waited two weeks after it was said to have delivered. Seller was nice to refund and told me if it came later I could keep. It came another 1-2 weeks later. Still reached out to seller, but told me don’t worry about it.

My only negative rn is from a $3 card that was never scanned. I’m still pissed the loser gave me a neg on that.

I’ve had them go missing a few times. This last time, though, it never even got scanned one time. Was worried that meant I wouldn’t get the insurance money, but they gave it to me within a day or so which was nice.

I’ve never used them as a seller on eBay, but I have received many as a buyer. Never had one go missing. Sometimes the tracking will not update near the end, but it always arrives safely to me.

My failure rate is in the 1-2% range for these and I’ve sent thousands. It’s unfortunate when it happens but the PIP insurance does work well.
