How much does Printline bother you when buying a card?

Hi all,
Well as i mention, I want to know what the general feeling is when you find a printlane on a psa 9 or psa 10 card, specially, when you had not appreciated in the photos at the tiem of purchasing. In my case, i recently bought a psa 9 dark charizard which looks really perfect in photos, also i ask for more pictures, nevertheless, when it comes I noticed that there was a printlane that was certainly noticeable under the light, I have been thinking for a while if I am really happy with the acquisition, since the printlane certainly seems annoying, but at the same time, I think I prefer that to other types of defects on a psa 9 What is your opinion?

I’d rather have a print line than surface wear. Atleast the print line came from the factory

Honestly print lines are the least of my concern.

Just not on my delta species cards, otherwise I think I’m okay with them.

It’s a minor thing for me. There would be cards that I would never own if I waited for print line free cards.

Printlines are non existant as far as im concerned. They dont really take away from a card, but rather add to it for me.

Here’s my list from most to least bothersome.

  1. holo scratches
  2. numerous holo print lines
  3. edgewear
  4. corner wear
  5. weld lines
  6. front centering
  7. silvering
  8. a single holo print line
  9. back centering

Print lines are definitely bothersome to me if they occur in number (i.e., Neo Genesis with 5-20 print lines per card), but a single print line does not bug me at all.

There’s also a distinction between print lines on the surface of the holo (e.g., WoTC era) and print lines that occur due to the joining of the foil sheets (e.g., ā€œweld linesā€ from the EX era). Weld lines do not bug me as much as numerous print lines.

Cosmos lines bother me significantly more than galaxy. I don’t consider them to be the same.

If I paid extra for some kind of premium grade like PSA 10 it would bother me. On a PSA 9 that’s no problem. Maybe the exception is Delta Species cards because the print seams on those are really noticeable

I really dislike print lines on reverse holo cards. On holos, especially old back it doesn’t bother me at all though

Print lines over the artwork bother me more than pretty much any defect that doesn’t cover the artwork (edge wear, centering, etc).

In sets that are plagued by print lines, hunting the rare copy that doesn’t have one can be fun, especially since grading companies don’t seem to really consider them at all.

Holo print lines dont really bother me. I am slightly bothered when the print line is like a full black line going from border to border. If I was buying a 10 i would probably be mildly annoyed, but I would take a holo print line over centering, scratches, whitening. Its the least offensive form of card imperfection for me.

In general for me I don’t really care since I don’t really bother to collect perfect cards in the first place. A lot of cards in my collection have flaws to begin with so one with print lines would fit right in haha. Plus if it’s ungraded, it’ll be wrapped in a bajillion layers anyways so I wouldn’t be able to see it.

They don’t bother me especially when considering a binder collection. I even find the ex-era ones kinda ā€œcharmingā€.
However I’m trying to avoid noticeable ones when searching for graded cards, since it just feels natural to buy the best looking slab.

So, in the end, I don’t have any strong feelings towards them: they’re not desirable but the card is still technically mint/NM.

Print lines look great in a binder

We think the same on most things! Bothers me when people lump everything into a single ā€˜printline’ category when there’s a big difference between straightline scratches from factory and a normal characteristic of the cards construction

Welcome to the forum @Rubenpkmn !

Print lines are very low on my concern list for PSA9’s.

I typically prioritize front centering & front surface as those are the what my eye can detect at arms length while on display.

Especially front centering with the yellow borders.

I agree with your list, by the way, i didnt know it is a different between Weld lines and print lines, it is always great to learn something!

First of all, thank you for all the comments really appreciate it. I have been reading this forum for a couple of years, but i never think about creating an account and post something, so i was a bit scare hahah. Related to the topic i would like to say that i am less worried, i think i was overthinking it a bit, as far as that was my favorite card and i really love it. By the way, i let here a video of my card, what do you think?
