Been a while since I’ve created a thread but I thought it would be good thought discussion to hear from a variety of you. I know this is highly personal question and depends on the card too but were there times where one was enough for you or maybe you were trying to fill a binder page full of them. I’m interested to hear your experiences!
Just one in great condition is all I need. I don’t have multiples for any of my cards unless they’re in some sort of alternate form or format (like sealed, graded, etc).
I’ve always felt that if I have a strong example of a card already I would like to return my duplicates to the market so someone else can have them.
Haha I just asked this question a couple months ago! Glad to see someone else is interested. And weirdly enough someone commented on it not too long ago either.
But for me, I love the Zapdos from red/green starter set. Currently at like 13 copies or something? But I feel that 1 page is enough, so either 18 or 24 depending on which size binder you have. If I get more I like to splash it in other random pages with Zapdos cards to complete a row or something. I’ve got that card thrown all throughout my binders right now hahahah!
I’m more limited by an overall financial investment into one card vs physical copies. I’d have 1000 copies of Shining Gyarados if I could.
Realistically, I shoot for 3 copies. One to hold forever, one to sell if the price increases enough in the near term, and one to sell eventually if a market really takes off 20 years down the road.
Aiming for 480 Jungle Pikachu to fill a binder I’m working on, but probably no chance that I’ll stop there - it’s the best card out there for me. I may stop if I get to 1000
If it’s a rare card I’m always interested in picking up more copies. If it’s not all that rare a single PSA 10 copy is good enough for me.
I don’t have a lot of extra copies, but I so far have 2 copies of 3 of the 2009 Design Contest Pichu cards, 3 unlimited E1 Pichu cards and 4 unlimited WCP Pichu cards.
