How does bidding on Heritage Auctions work?

I’m considering bidding on some items in this lot, however I’m having a hard time understanding how it works.

Looks like I can bid until the 19th and then there’s some sort of live in person bidding? I realize the best way to learn should have been to bid on some lower end items in the past… If someone could explain some of the basics of what I need to know I’d greatly appreciate it!

There is a live bidding feature during the auction time. It looks like this, where the lot shows up and the Internet bidders (previous bids) and Live bidders (Heritage Live) are populated.

You can bid many days beforehand (Internet bidder), but the Heritage Live buyers will often go higher than these pre-auction bids.

huh I see.. what is Cut Bid?

It’s a 1/2 bid. In this example, you can increase the auction price to $1,150 rather than a normal bid of $100 ($1,200).

Ah gotcha, yeah that makes sense.

So can I bid along with the Heritage Live buyers? Or is it in-person only?

Yes, you can.

Hmm I guess Im confused a little

feels like its ending in 13hr… and I want to be the highest bidder by then? Or wait till Saturday to bid on it? lol feels like its designed to have you bid early so the price of stuff goes up earlier than you need to

Some of the lots end on different days but your screenshot says the one you’re looking at will actually end in 1 day + 13 hours. You can set internet bids up until Sat 2:50PM, after that there will be a live session you can also internet bid on. So you could wait for the live session or just set your max price by 2:50PM and walk away - that’s what I’d do.

HA has a pretty clunky interface and is very confusing for new users imo… I’m convinced their average sold prices for some of the lower/mid-end TCG stuff would be 10-20% higher if they updated to a modern bidding system and did better SEO marketing etc… Anyways, good luck! (Unless you’re bidding against me :stuck_out_tongue: )

Oooo I see! Thanks for the clarification. It’s definitely a bit different than most of the websites I’m used to!
