Just had this pop up while browsing a random auction. It seems that eBay is going the same route as all the other auction houses.
The assumption seems to be if a bid is placed in the last minute of an auction, it extends the duration of the auction by another full minute until no bids are received.
Thoughts?
I wonder how this will work with sniping services.

This means they stopped all those people bidding up the auctions by themselves right? I saw way too many without any reserve where the same person bids like 3-5 times in a row against themselves, sometimes multiple times and gets prices way up.
It seems like a bad idea all around for buyers and sellers. What makes eBay nice is you can do it in seconds if you time it right and you don’t need to waste hours of your day hoping you win or wondering what your item sold for.

As both a buyer and seller, I don’t see any major benefit to this. Who wants this?
They could probably code it to keep bidding for you every time the timer resets, up until your max bid. Hopefully Gixen is able to do that or it’s the end of an era
ebays ‘offer’ api is so antiquated that I would be genuinely a little shocked if they even adjusted it to account for a changing end time
Wouldn’t the auto bid services still come into play? When the timer eventually hits 2 seconds, your max bid is placed. It doesn’t matter when it comes back around again, your max bid is already placed.
Just gives you more chances to lose or have to pay closer to your max bid. Sucks

Well this is lame!
Sniping services still place the bid the first time the counter reaches 6 seconds left. Obviously that will reset the clock back to 60 seconds, but you’ll still get your bid in.
It sucks but since cards have become much more expensive Im not bidding anyways
