Well an item I wanted to buy just turned into an auction, and well guys… it’s my first one!
Usually the “Buy now” button has been my best friend but now I have to BID to win!
I have some questions.
I went to bid and it turned into a “Max bid” I bid 3rd and I bid $50.00. It was at $1.24 now it’s like at $12.50 (my bid).
What I don’t get is that I bid fifty and it only took it up to 12? I was hoping this guy had a reserve, if he has one, would I win automatically? Or not until the actual dollar value reaches fifty?
I look at it and it says “please enter a value more than $50.00”
I log out, go to the auction and it says: “please enter a value more than $12.50”
What happened to my fifty dollars?
And when you bid do you spend money? Or not until the auction ends?
So if someone bids above 12.50 does the rest of my fifty dollar bid kick in!?
If someone else has bid 12 dollars, and then you enter a bid of 50. It isn’t going to instantly jack the bid up to your max. It will go over his 12 by the minimum amount required. If a 3rd person joins in and say bids 30 dollars then your max bid of 50 will instantly override it and probably go to 30.50(or higher depending on minimum bid incriment)
It doesn’t cost you any money to make a bid on an auction, you will pay for the auction(if you won) once the auction is over.
My one word of advice is to not bid your max straight away, there are people who will bid on cards until their bid stands as the highest so if you bid your max early then in my opinion it is more likely you will be outbid than if you put your max bid in within say 15 mins to go.
Sniping is the way to go. I don’t understand why people insist on bidding way too early. Bidding with 6 days left in the auction doesn’t guarantee a win…
Only time I ever bid early is the minimum on something ive been hunting a while so theres less chance of the seller pulling it down or me forgetting the auction!
