For me, pretty much what everyone else has said so far in the thread, apart from the obsession with full art trainers, I’m not into that stuff.
That said, if they were to release something amazing like gold star Lugia and Ho-Oh as set cards, as a collector I’d want TPCI to give them some level of rarity relative to the much larger print volumes we experience today vs WOTC print volumes. Whereas back-in-the-day a gold star average pull rate might be 1 per 2 booster boxes, to scale the same rarity today they’d probably need to make it 1 per 5 booster cases. As we know they won’t do this because they have no incentive, and honestly it’d kind of suck for the casual collectors and kids, but I can be selfish and carry on hoping.
As much as I enjoy certain arts, I’ll admit rarity really does increase my appreciation for any individual card. It’s like, I LOVE the amazing rares, but I’d love them more still if they were actually ‘amazingly rare’. Another example would be that I absolutely cannot WAIT for the 25th Celebrations set cards and promos, but I just hope that they introduce some meaningful rarity to some of the set card pulls - that’s what’d make the difference for me.
If they ever went the route of the porygon, I’d love to see more uncommon Pokémon get Amazing Rares such as Butterfree, Gengar, Jynx, Magmar, or Togetic. I know those choices are pretty random, but the possibility of color schemes are what made me pick them.
A Full Art Amazing Rare might be asking for too much lol
I have an entire list of Full Art Trainers, but my GAWD, how ya going to do Lt. Surge so freaking dirty and give every Gen 1 Gym Leader a FA card except for him? He legit killed people in the war and is like 8 ft tall
I think it would be cool if they brought back trainer owned Pokemon like they did with Gym Heroes/Challenge and the VS series, for example, Sabrina’s Gengar or Lance’s Charizard. On top of that, the Pokemon could get abilities that can be used when other Pokemon owned by that trainer are out on the field which allows players to make decks based around their favorite trainers. I think this could be really fun to play and to collect.

A new Gym set, with all of the ultra rares representing Pokémon belonging to champions across the generations.
I was hoping the Pokemon Company was going to release something like this for the 25h Anniversary Set, featuring trainer owned Pokemon from all generations.
I’d love to see a full art secret rares one by Asako Ito (they are the ones that take pictures of the crocheted pokemon). I think we could see one soon since pokemon is letting a variety of artists so the secret rares. Plus we had the Yuka Morii secret rare of Snivy and Venusaur Tag Team!
Speaking of Full Art Trainers and missed opportunities.
The latest main sets seem to be themed around Dragon types and their specialists, yet we got School Boy/School Girl full art trainers, which are the worst full art trainers I have ever seen!
I don’t know why the Pokemon Company thought to give them cards and full art trainer counterparts over Lance/Claire/Another Iris.
I would’ve loved Claire as a full art, although her signature Pokemon, Kingdra didn’t get a V this set. (Another missed opportunity, good thing we got Medicham V in the set. Yay?)
I hope and wish for a new set without full arts or gimmick cards. Even if it’s just one specialty set, I want to relive the feeling of pulling a standard holo and feeling elated.
