Hey everyone, Help evaluating my 1999 Pokemon Cards

Hey I heard about this forum on Omnipoke youtube video: Beginners Guide to Investing in Pokemon Cards! - YouTube

I just found my old collection of 1999 Pokemon Cards and if anyone here can give me a estimation of how much they are worth I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Here’s a video of the collection: I found my 1999 Pokemon card collection - YouTube

Get a magnifying glass and some calipers, then inspect each one for imperfections such as crease, white dots, bad corners, centering. Condition is everything for pricing and a video like this will be hard to tell the conditions.

First off from the preview image your japanese raichu is fake. Just look up all the cards you have and look up how to determine condition for anything valuable.

They are mostly in mint condition haven’t come out of the plastic in 20 years. Some have slight picture usage on the corners but no creases or folds of any time on pretty much every single one

Not much value there. Maybe a few hundred off a quick glance

@samsix,You only have about 3-4 non 1st edition holos that could be in varying conditions. Look up the prices yourself and condition guides. You also have at least 1 fake holo card and several others that are suspect. The binder is worth less than $100 or maybe half that depending on condition.

Just inspect each card carefully and compare your cards to other known top condition cards. The real value of the cards comes from grading them.

I see now . None of them are first edition. Thanks!

Dragonite, Kangaskhan, Vaporeon, Mewtwo, and the Chansey are your best cards. If they’re in Mint condition, definitely have value! You’d need to go through the process of grading them in order to see anything more than $150-$200 for the entire binder.

For an idea of condition look up the cards psa graded and compare the condition to yours. You would be surprised how small a bit of damage can be to drop the condition or grade. This should give you a good idea if it isn’t worth it before you go spending money grading cards.

Also I’m afraid that I agree, your Raichu looks fake to me.

Good luck. Still always awesome to find your old collection

@danza21,I have first edition machamp Holo as well. everything else is just a regular holo

That’s like a $5 card unless it’s NM-M

All machamps are marked as 1st edition. Only shadowless ones are true first editions. They were in a starter set so there are many copies and it is one of the most common holos to see.

Maybe try here, all people do is ask for prices any more. Some very helpful people there that arent exhausted by it yet: www.reddit.com/r/pokemoncardcollectors/

On another note… can we add a rule where people need 50 posts before asking for their childhood collection binders to be audited/valued/evaluated by collectors just so they can just sell it off anyway?
