Hello! I am trying to collect every version of every mareep/flaaffy/ampharos card, including cards that have them in the background. However, I am struggling to find any comprehensive list of all the cards I am looking for. For English, its simple. I have one of each non-holo, holo, rev-holo card, in both first ed and unlimited if they are available. However, I’m sure there are a few obscure ones that I might be missing, such as prize pack holo variants or something.
When we get to other languages, thats where I need some help. I don’t need to collect every language of every card if they are identical apart from the language. But, I do want to collect one of each holofoil type of card. For example, this sun and moon Mareep.
I have the normal english non-holo and rev-holo, and I want this chinese version because it has a special stamp and different foil pattern.
I know some japanese sets like V-star universe have some different holo patterns on some cards, but I haven’t been able to find a list of non-english or japanese cards.
Species collecting is a beautiful thing, and takes a lot of dedicated time and research. Most cards are pretty straight forward and on most lists. The difficult ones are special stamps in alternate languages (honestly, nonenglish and nonjapanese are tough to find depending on marketplace). Indonesian and japanese have special stamps on some of the cards like you showed. Easy to find play promo stamps in a quick google search.
For english, one of the pricier mareep cards is the lost thunder stamped mareep from a uk promo release.
Theres some of the whole evolution from battle academy 3 that have individual numbering.
There are a few cameos on trainers, most of which are known but a newer chinese release has a flaaffy cameo that might not be on lists yet.
I have quite a few of the pricier cards, including that Toys R Us mareep, which is so cute btw. Some of the bigger ones that are going to be very tough to find that I know of are the Poncho Ampharos card, the Staff Evolving Skies Flaaffy, and I have always wanted to get the for position only ampharos card. I will have to look into the indonesian cards tho, I didn’t even know that was a thing.
Thank you so much! That is so helpful! Unfortunately, I have now discovered that there are various types of reverse Holo mareeps and flaaffys from “Fearless Terastal” and none are listed online that I can find. So those will be tough, but I’m excited to do this!
The for position only ampharos is pretty neat. Im not an error collector, but I remember seeing this mareep in auction that was pretty cool a while back. I love that the hobby always has an interesting avenue of things to be thankful for!
