Hey so lately, proboards have been logging me off automatically if i view a different site in another window, or if I dont touch the screen for a few minutes. I thought this was odd as I used to be able to log on and stay logged on for days or weeks even. Today I checked site and logged in while out and about, wifi was not secure. I was logged out automatically again shortly. Came home, with secured internet and I login here and it gives me a strange screen saying username and password is compromised, data breech on this site? So um is that bogus or really Google ??[never seen it happen before]. and will a mod please pm me how to reset password. thanks
This site really needs to switch over to https but it hasn’t, as people provide personal info via pm here. I also quite often see hijack screens when browsing or logging in. Perhaps Pierce or whoever else can look into it
I too have witnessed highjack screens when browsing this forum. Often in the form of malicious redirect links and pop-unders. And it goes without saying that the switch to https would also be beneficial.
Proboards is a hosted forum and we have no control over adding something like SSL. Their support forums have said they’re looking at making all proboards SSL enabled since 2017 and as recently as last month but it hasn’t happened yet. Whenever they get around to it this forum will be automatically switched over.
Actually proboards has “https” for pages with user information. Whenever you log in next time, check the url. Once V6 is finished, every page will have https. Not sure when this will occur.
Use an ad blocker, they’re due to the 3rd party ads that proboards runs on the forum, nothing can really be done about them. Ad providers remove these types of ads whenever they’re discovered/reported but it doesn’t stop people creating them.
Chrome has rolled out a new feature recently which lets you know if a username and password combination you use has been compromised. It sounds like this is what you’re seeing here: Chrome is telling you that the details you use to sign in to E4 have been compromised.
That doesn’t mean that E4 or Proboards is the source of the leak, however. Do you use the same credentials on other websites? If so, it’s possible that one of those was compromised instead.
In short you should always use a different password on every service you use and I’d recommend using a password manager like LastPass.
Thanks to all who replied! I have changed my password, and also will not use this or any site I log into while on free public wifi. That may have been the problem.
