I just saw Leon Tweet at Mr. Beast about opening some vintage product together and I think this is an excellent move on his behalf. The more big names we can rope into the Pokémon community, the better.
Leon pulling the 1st Ed. Charizard is perfect timing given the situation - he’s pulling in thousands of upvotes on Reddit and likes on Twitter that the content is especially speaking for itself. I’m hoping that this one video is a boulder being plopped in the center of a lake that sends new ripples of excitement into the hobby for weeks, months, and years to come.
I’ll watch Pokerev’s videos and pack openings but i doubt i’ll ever buy his packs…it’s way overpriced…shouldn’t it be the other way around?, cheaper packs if they’re opened on cam? To each their own though. He already makes money from the stream donations, and the youtube advertisements after the video is uploaded.
Other Youtubers also make more revenue from being affiliates by giving their “discount code” and/or selling merchandise. Even Z had a video where he said made more money from eBay commissions than Youtube. They can also get sponsored by companies as well. Leonhart’s shirts for example, or Unlistedleaf’s constant impossible good pulls from PokeCollect. There are other places the creators earn revenue, it’s not just Youtube. And as long as these creators push out 10:00 plus videos, they’ll maximize their revenue.
I just really wish these creators would be more upfront. Not even once, Leonhart never said anything about revenue. I’m sure as a lawyer he knows how to word things properly but it was repeatedly about recommended links, lower views, etc. Not once about money…but that’s exactly what he was trying to say reading between the lines. And really, about those “discount codes” or “free shipping codes”. Just be real. TCA always says it’d help out the channel if we click his link to buy stuff on eBay. I really like that.
With my rant, i will support Leonhart more as long as his ads aren’t 2 minutes long…I like the liberty mutual ads…yea play those more.
Edit:Just realized that video on reddit doesn’t link to youtube…it’s a clip! that’s wrong. poster shouldve linked to the original content. now THAT would have helped out Leonhart more.
