From very limited info on the web, (other than the U.S Blockbuster/ WB cards featuring - Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander & Jigglypuff) it seems that there were also Australian versions featuring Meowth, Psyduck, Eevee & Snorlax known until now.. but I can’t find anything regarding this Gengar card. With serial also ending 226 and no Blockbuster/ WB logo, same as the other “Australian variants”
I’ve seen the Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur etc. cards with the serial number ending in 226 (no Blockbuster/WB logo), as well as variants like Meowth, Psyduck and Snorlax on ebay and facebook marketplace so far.
I am just speculating but could it be that the Gengar, like Meowth and Snorlax, was distributed at Movie World and other events? Similar to how the E3 variants were distributed. Leaving the Pikachu, Squirtle etc. available at the snap stations at Myer and Toys R Us.
Very cool that you have the Gengar and were able to attend the Pokemon Island Adventure!
I don’t know anything about the card sorry but I just wanted to say this brought back some great memories. The Pokemon store at Movie World at this time was awesome.
