What has been the hardest binder set for you to collect?
Thought it would be interesting to hear people’s stories on this subject.
For me, it has been a NM Skyridge reverse holo set. I’m sure 1st edition base or many others are harder to collect based on the price of some cards, but finding some NM Skyridge reverse holos at a decent price has been incredibly difficult. Many times there are only a few available of each card, and they are often PSA graded copies going for insane prices. Its easy to see with the fact that there are 150 reverse holos in the set, and only 750 reverse holos currently listed on eBay.
A full master set of EX Deoxys, including all promos, could be argued to be the hardest printed set. Or maybe 3rd print Fossil. This is not including Matchprint or FPOs, since they weren’t properly distributed. Base Set is obviously up there, as well.
It’s one of the lowest printed sets, as most of the early EX sets were. It’s also the most expensive EX set, besides TRR possibly when it comes to certain singles. It has a number of rare promos and the most expensive Gold Stars. On top of that, it has one of the rarest English promos in the hobby: The Stadium Challenge Deoxys. Only a few have been sold and are in collectors hands at the moment. It also has some amazing artwork and a lot of reverses.
Great topic, but im to biased in this Just like you the reverse E-series are really my cup of tea, so also the only sets i finished reverseHolo- as you said; it’s good you atleast started already, cause NM copies of these little demons are getting really hard to find- good luck on your journey!
yeah its been pretty insane! I’ve even noticed an increased difficulty in finding NM copies in the 8 or so months since I started chasing the set. Finally found a NM Fisherman today for under 15 dollars after looking for months
I think the OP was asking what the hardest set for YOU to collect was not what is THE hardest set to collect. I kinda think alot of people have missed the point of the thread.
True, but I’d say most answers would be the same, as I assume most of the people answering have tried to complete the sets being mentioned. I know the three I mentioned were personally very difficult to finish lol. I’m even trying to finish Evolutions, but God knows what I’m gonna do about those DCEs lol
