On this day 20 years ago, Japan released the Pokémon Trading Card Game! The “Base Set” was released on October 20, 1996 and it was a major hit! Not only did it grasp the hearts of kids but adults as well. This is a huge milestone for Pokémon, CREATURES & GAMEFREAK as it proves how successful the franchise has become, not only the TCG but games, anime, toys, manga and everything else altogether! With great honor I am proud to say that I am glad Pokémon was brought upon existence during my lifetime. I have been a huge enthusiast since day one and will continue to love Pokémon throughout my life, along with my children and hopefully their children. I can’t believe its been 20 years. I guess technically 18 for most Americans. Never would imagine I would be this involved in the hobby, and have met so many man children.
But seriously, Pokemon has done a lot of good, here is to another 20 years!

To try and think back to something i was doing when this all first started really puts it into perspective how long pokemon has been around. I can barely remember 1999 let alone 1996! 25 years next which will hopefully be huge!
