I’ve been interested in the GS Kyogre and Groudon for a long time and am finally pulling the trigger. I noticed that the english psa 9 is basically the same as the japanese first ed psa 10 and was wondering which you guys thought would do better long term or if there are noticable differences in how they look in person. This is for my personal collection but I am interested as how they would perform in the future if I have to sell them eventually and if one looks better than the other haha. Thanks in advance.
I cant speak about how the future will look, but if you like the card I wouldnt hesistate on it.
Welcome to e4!
English in PSA 10 have had greater variance (i.e., greater increases and steeper decreases) than PSA 9s. So if you buy the PSA 9s, you might be protected from some volatility (for better or for worse).
Vintage Japanese are a whole different world because the PSA 10 rates are much higher than in English and there were 1st Edition and Unlimited printings. PSA 10 Japanese
have more stability than English PSA 10s because there are simply more in the pop and therefore more sales to reduce volatility.
All of this said, my actual recommendation is to buy what you like. None of us can predict the future, and if we could, we wouldn’t tell a soul. Personally, I like PSA 9 English . Others prefer Japanese
because the silver borders are more pleasing on the eyes, the cards are generally of higher quality, and PSA 10s are more achievable/affordable if gem mint status is desired.
