Down falls SGC, with just shy of half the 61 total votes at 49%! TAG and ARS tied with 13 votes or 22% each.
Each post will eliminate one company, so select which company you personally deem to be the worst, or rather, which you are least likely to use or want. You can justify your decision by whatever criteria you want. By the end, we’ll be left with one. I’ll be closing votes and making the follow-up ~48 hours from each post.
My vote is a bit forward-looking. If it’s just now I’d pretty easily prefer BGS over TAG, but I personally give TAG some points for trying to do something new, even if seemingly flawed now. Maybe BGS will prove me wrong under new mgmt!
Totally fair! I can’t currently pick TAG over the remaining companies considering how brittle their cases appear to be relative to the competition due to the material they use. If they’re able to reformulate and find something that is UV-resistant, clear, and finds parity on structural integrity, then they’d shoot up the ranks for me.
Also, as much as I love them against a black background, trying to see the label details against a white background/low contrast environments is really painful. That’s why I gotta vote them out now, unfortunately:(
Ultimately, even though the label is exquisite, ARS has to go. Japan only, label in japanese, those nasty frosted borders, and I’m not sure how I feel about having the grade on the back or the label below the card. Cardsavers and toploaders are the true card first grade second.
I’ve been voting mainly based on how much trust I have in each specific company when it comes to doing their job, authenticating and accurately grading a card, & then taking aesthetics into account after.
