I don’t necessarily think that not informing customers about it was “good thing,” I’m suggesting a possible reason as to why they waited that long. Assuming we all have the same knowledge about the situation (from the videos), none of us really know why the decision was made to wait as long as they did. Based on the info we have, I imagine it was probably time spent dueling it out with insurance and FedEX, but who knows. So, in my opinion, jumping to conclusions and criticizing without having all the information isn’t really constructive.

I don’t think there is any evidence to suggest that they had bad intentions. Also, a mystery-man speculating from your DMs does not count as evidence lol

If I had a dollar for every time someone says an anonymous “I just received a DM from someone telling me…”. Anyone can make claims of receiving inside messages to fit their agenda.

The facts as we’ve been told:

  1. Prior to the missing package GradedGem (GG) spent 4-6 weeks communicating with a broker with the purpose of taking out an insurance policy to coincide with the increased use of their services.
  2. Parcel went missing Feb ‘21 from within a FedEx distribution centre (unknown if this is when FedEx knew, or when it was reported to GG).
  3. GG went through a claim process which included emails and phone conversations. These included negotiations where GG attempted to maximise their payout (pre-grades not considered and were tantamount to opinion).
  4. GG claimed for 100k (£?)
  5. GG were offered and accepted 50k by the insurance company.
  6. GG added an additional 60k towards payout fund, indicating 10k of this was provided to help compensate the loss by providing an additional 10% gratuity per payout.
  7. Process took 3-4 Months before settlement reached with insurance company.
  8. Insurance cover was not for covering potential value as cards were never graded.
  9. Price estimates were calculated for raw card values. Price fluctuations made calculations difficult.
  10. GG is providing full raw value + gratuity.
  11. GG contacted all affected submitters directly by phone to explain. Those unreachable by phone were contacted via email.
  12. ~80% have accepted claim values provided so far.

Connor has already delivered his explanation of why communication of the news took so long. He said he didn’t want to drag submitters through the claims process.

He understands in hindsight why people disagree and would have preferred there was better communication.
But GG themselves didn’t know how it would pan out and were dealing with the unfortunate fallout of the incident. They didn’t know at that point how much they would be able to payout. They didn’t know how long it would be before payout, but they certainly knew how heartbreaking it would be for their customers. But upon learning these things, is when I personally think communication should have occurred.

Something I want to mention is that Connor makes the point they don’t make money until submissions are processed. All submission costs are kept essentially in trust (held on behalf of the submitter by GG until PSA finalises grades, at which point funds are then appropriated). It’s speculation on my part, but they may have had cash flow concerns and were waiting for returns.

I personally think communication is important and the whole thing could have been handled better. But that’s hindsight for you. GG had good intentions and the loss of this package is unfortunate. But FedEx is a reputable courier and the package was lost by them. GG tried their best by obtaining insurance they thought was adequate. Perhaps middlemen in the future will do a better job and offer insurance for pre-grade value or submission level, who knows. But these were all raw cards. Again, it’s unfortunate but I don’t think it’s fair in this scenario to paint GG as villains. They certainly didn’t gain anything from this scenario.

Rattle’s videos are unnecessary and baiting for drama at the expense of others. The very thing he accused Frosted Carribou of doing when he attacked her in response to her views of Gary. Which ultimately lead to her being abused by Gary and him publicly apologising later in a pokenomics interview.

So it’s no surprise Gary comes in here siding with Rattle, stating “They [GG] deserve what they get.” The guy who made sure to start a “Rattle Appreciation thread”. So i’m sure he’s quite objective in his views and isn’t trying to protect his friend.

I think this is the part many actually focused on, criticism of the way you behaved in your second video & made it very apparent you don’t just wanna argue on an objective level, something many believe Connor actually did in his video. No need for polemic. The fact your only response to that criticism toward yourself is “he did it first”, shows me all I need to know lol.
I’m personally just disappointed because of how awesome & objective your work on the booster case was and how that could further be dedicated to actual scumbags that want to screw people over.

@rainbowgx, just because you type 2,000 words in every post doesn’t mean you are objective.

I mean… you were kinda the provocateur, so framing Connor’s response as the reason you responded “unprofessionally” doesn’t really make sense when you shot first. That doesn’t make Connor’s response 100% right, but it takes two to tango lol.

I think if you’re really that concerned about setting an example and teaching lessons about middleman services, maybe you should just contact him directly? Then, you could get a much clearer, more accurate picture of the situation, and use that to assess what went wrong. Instead, taking jabs and belittling with a poor foundation of info kinda just comes across as defamatory.

I’m also not really sure how his involvements with other companies, or the degradation of the PSA relationship is related to this. It feels like another situation where ‘not enough info’ is being used to speculate on ill-intentions, or incompetency. We really don’t have a lot of solid information about the relationship with PSA, how deliberations went, or even how Connor is/was involved with ACE.

Worked for Fedex for 12 years and the company has slowly gone downhill over the past 5 years. They’ve been severely understaffed for years, training is non-existent and employees are underpaid and overworked. At one point our station was sending dozens of international packages back to customs in Memphis a day because they somehow slipped past the customs process. I’m surprised the company hasn’t burned itself to the ground by now.

I 100% agree with this take. It just goes to show how money hungry these companies are when they decide to be an absolute pain the case of a claim being filed.

I guess people could abuse it too, but there really shouldn’t be much work done on the side of the person who lost their item/had it damaged for a claim to go through.

That’s how you know this was all for the drama. Didn’t bother going directly to the source of the issue and interviewing people with the facts and instead makes assumptions and forms his own opinions on what happened.

Why go to a source when you can pull some dudes random unverified claims from a FB post?

Didn’t read the post, looked too long, but loved the picture;)

Let’s see. My only two points was a nearly one year delay in communicating with customers was wrong.
And
The gg response was highly unprofessional.

Not sure how any of that is controversial?

This is why I would love if Jake from Pokenomics handles all controversies in the community and gives everyone a fair chance at explaining themselves and asks fair followup questions but that’s not gonna happen bc people enjoy drama and outrage instead

You and others aren’t going to like it but I have other sources who have reached out and some who thanked me afterwards but who want to remain anonymous. They have been vetted and are very real sources but do not want their claims shown in a video. I used publicly posted information for a reason.

For anyone saying I should have discussed the whole thing behind the scenes, absolutely not. My videos and all information is made public for everyone who wants to take the time to watch. No pay wall and never will be. I told the same thing to people who thought I should have handled the fake case outside of the public view.

This Graded Gem example of lack of preparation and incompetence is important to take into consideration especially in a market filled with brand new 3 letter junk-slab services who are likely even less prepared. Wouldn’t surprise me if some weren’t insured at all.

If a company wants to put my face in a crosshair and waste time cutting my video up to make an intro/outro in response to my criticism, I’m probably going to have some fun with them.

I think any points that anyone wants or feels like they need to make have been made so this has run it’s course.
