Graded booster box

I would say the average video game collector hates graded with enough passion they will tell you any chance they get.

True, I tried to insert the graded video game in my console cartridge, didn’t work…got the message “just a moment…We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties”…Wonder why?

Right on cue

I think it’s a very weak argument. “I tried building a 60 card deck with psa slabs but for some reason they didn’t let me participate in the tournament ”

When can I grade my modern booster box purchase order email?

Reminds me of the madlad who played at his local league with a slabbed Vstar marker. PSA 10, of course.

@pfm Oops, good to know. I don’t have a pulse on video game collecting, so this is news to me.

@humbleon I mean, that argument could be levied against all sealed collectibles in general and isn’t specific to grading. E.g. “Why would you collect sealed WotC boxes? The items inside are meant to be played with/enjoyed.” Sealed collectors just enjoy the items in different ways separate from the practical/intended use of the item.

I would think even amongst booster box collectors, “mint-looking” vintage booster boxes are more desired and maybe even exact premiums? (I did just wrongly assume things about video game collectors though) And if that’s the case, there could conceivably be space for some third party to come in and mediate the condition of these boxes. Sure, some weirdo grading company with dubious reputation is not going to help, but I don’t think the concept itself is unwarranted.

Note: Full disclosure, I have hundreds upon hundreds of graded Scarlet and Violet boxes that I’m waiting to stonk.

Box buying is the worst

certifying an empty box/pack would bypass the reseal issues. However, why even bother at that point…

Side note: you can actually play one piece with a graded leader card in your deck bc the card isnt actually shuffled in and is constantly in play, face up during the match

Also, i think graded sealed games emanate nefarious vibes to a lot of video game collectors

sealed games is weird as i will always have in the back of my mind that the insides are not what the insides should be…
paranoia perhaps

“We all got duped, agreed ?”
