Just announced today on Xitter. Seems like this is an attempt to make products “easier” to get for collectors. Interestingly, the post speaks directly against resellers.
Anyone wanna guess how this will go?

I have bought most of my preorders through Gamestop, including a Prismatic ETB. It kinda sucks that this wont be an option anymore.
I feel this is similar to what Japan went through around year 1 of SV, where they tried various things to try and “fix” the lack of product, none of which really did anything
Everyone except TPC and TPCi knows how to fix the supply issue… fix the supply issue. Band aids do nothing
I have family that worked at gamestop, and they said that one time a customer had an issue with their purchase limit on a particular item set at 2. They just had their wife, or someone pick the other ones up. They could tell because of the last names. Hopefully we see more positive things in the future with the hobby. There is an effort at least.
Sounds about as relevant as that free card saver and sleeve.
love the double down on the free sleeves! Must have been a big demand driver in the corporate meeting
Probably some b.s. corporate deal between ultra pro or cardboard gold and gamestop
I just love it so much. Followed by #powertotheplayers
It’s just so beautiful. They really are giving back to the community fr fr
Lmao, I didn’t read that part.

No more preorders, so more supply per store on release with purchase limits on SKU’s?
Stores had really low product quantities on release around me, so idk how big a difference this will make when there’s a line of 20 people outside every GameStop in the city before they open. There will be product until 11:30 instead of 11:07 maybe by the time everyone makes their rounds. Hopefully it helps though
Preorders gave people a fighting chance. Maybe the pre order in store lasted a few days after initial announcement.
I think this is a reasonable way to allocate their supply across their ~3,000 U.S. stores. Of course, the only real solution is for TPCi to increase supply.
Apparently certain ETBs are like $80 at gamestop now too because they arent sourcing from distributors. Wild times.
if they didn’t do that ppl will just clear out the website like when they are selling stuff like pokeman firered for $30 and emerald for $60 ![]()
Yeah I’ve seen some discussion that gamestop is going to start charging above MSRP for high demand products…
Queue the “What about the children?!?!” arguments, if thats the case.
At this point I wouldn’t mind a kid price vs adult price for product. Also limited quantity per customer makes sense.
Gamestop already does this at times. Usually $5-10 above msrp depending on the product. Theyve been doing it since before shining fates.
you just created a reverse alcohol market where middle aged guys pay kids to buy product for them
Ahh yes now every time I look at my SIRs I pulled from Gamestop I’ll think about how high-quality the penny sleeve is
Seriously though what corporate employee who has never touched anything tcg related thought to use this as a marketing strategy? I’m pretty sure most people won’t ever see this, and those that do see it won’t care. How many sells will they get out of this?
