Next, we’ve got a couple of cards that you can actually call “connected artworks” since they tell a small story across multiple cards (most of them in the context of a battle). It’s worth mentioning that from this point on, some of these cards have already been brought up in other posts.
Finally, I was really surprised because I was able to spot three major events that tie several cards together. One of them—just like Quuador mentions in his post—is about a fighting tournament taking place in a city plaza, maybe somewhere from the game itself. There are 10 cards that belong to this first event.
This last scenario doesn’t totally convince me, but I can’t deny there’s some kind of connection between these cards, since they’re all set in the Fighting Stadium.
To wrap things up, I was really surprised to see that several sets actually go this far with this kind of variety within a single release. It was a lot of fun revisiting older sets while looking for these kinds of connections. Hope this post wasn’t too long!
Also, I feel like it should be said that the post Quuador quoted only mentioned 6 cards from Phantom Forces, when there are 14 cards (by my count) that feature the “jelly beans”. I felt like I at least needed to add the Helioptile to the list as it is done by the same artist as the Pumpkaboo.
@5DNK53 cool findings and i like a lot of those cameos in your first post, some of them i’ve seen in bulbapedia article of narrative illustrations but you found an additional accelgor that wasn’t mentioned there, definitely will get those at some point especially as they fill a whole binder page so nicely
@Quuador yeah i’m planning to do that at some point, i do have some troubles to decide how i should label the cards, just a name of the card without any mention of the cameos or set names atm feels like the most consisten solution but still not sure about it
Yeah, just the Pokémon names alone (and some Trainer names I guess) would already help a lot. Then we could simply search for that Pokémon name and see whether a connected artwork we discovered on our own is already in the list above or not.
