You’re not getting out of this boi!
In all seriousness, my favourite box is Jungle. That’s my nostalgia.
Really like ex firered leafgreen and the HS series. The English HS sets have the best looking artwork on their boxes imo.
Your on! Lets do this!
My sealed collection isn’t as glamorous as cases of WOTC boxes, but recently I’ve been collecting all theme decks that came with a booster pack inside. Its a very niche group of products but it’s something that I loved that I wish they would bring back.
I love the WOTC theme decks. Have a big stack of them.
For me its the japanese VS series, unique artwork and seeing gen2 gym leaders together just does it for me. I also really like Neo Discovery, but if I have to pick its VS.
Sealed Evolutions Prerelease Charizard(Fire) Deck!
I reckon 100 likes
Reviving this thread to see what people’s favorite sealed product is as of the SWSH era (not necessarily from this era, I just love looking at sealed products I may not have known about).
Eevee Heroes Gym Box is obviously a contender for sealed product of the era, but maybe I’m forgetting something from this time period. In the US, the 25th UPC is an easy pick, but the Flareon/Jolteon/Vaporeon Premium Collections are quite nice too. I’m sure all of those will be overshadowed by the Charizard UPC soon enough, though.
As far as the previous posts, I can’t believe how gorgeous the booster boxes @emba posted in 2019 are.
I adore that Miracle Crystal box. I’ve never seen it before. Good stuff @emba!
Booster boxes of Japanese sets almost always have nicer designs than English ones. I say “almost” because there is one exception, IMO:
EX Dragon.
English:
Japanese:
The Japanese one also looks great, but the English one is just so fucking nice (though maybe it’s just my bias as a huge Latias/Latios fan…). I’m sure some people prefer the Japanese box art – it just doesn’t personally do it for me like the English one does.
(Note: the image of the Japanese box I just pulled off of Google Images – unfortunately, I don’t own one )
Yeah i think ex sealed boxes really are the pinnacle of sealed collecting for me. Super low print, big chase items, low pop cards and realistically lower chance of these pops growing at the same rate wotc grows due to the sealed supply being lower. Even if we assumed that right now there are an exact even amount of sealed wotc and sealed ex left in existance (which evidence heavily disagrees with), the pop for wotc cards is already super high comparitively.
For all eras, If a 10 is not slabbed by now there is a good chance that its coming from sealed product at this point and not leftover collections.
Latias and Latios just feel better thematically compared to the JP box. “Rulers of the Heavens” is a sick name for a set and as fitting as Rayquaza is, Minun and…Spoink are kinda punching way above their weight class to be there lol.
Dragon is such a good box design. I don’t have any nostalgia for gen 3 and think its one of the top box designs!
100% agreed that the Dragon box is next-level art and design.
Here is my favorite sealed product. I bought it in 2016 shortly after coming back to the hobby. This is one of those long term holds that I might not ever sell in my lifetime, regardless of future value.
Owning a vintage booster box is a holy grail of mine, unfortunately I can’t afford any except the Spanish language ones. Considering learning Spanish lmao.
I really like the design of the cp6 booster box. Theres something about the smaller design of high class booster boxes I love and this one has my favorite artwork of all my japanese booster boxes.
I don’t really have much sealed product other than some modern stuff that is totally going to stonk hard, just wait… But actually, the first sealed stuff I bought when getting back in was a Primal Clash sleeved blister pack and a Pop Series 7 and Pop Series 8 pack. Nothing too crazy of course, but its what helped kickstart my reentry into the hobby.
A ex era box… Perhaps Magma/Aqua, Dragon, or TRR.
That is amazing. How much was it in 2016 if you don’t mine me asking?
Thanks It was $1500. It sure felt like a ton at the time though, on my lowly graduate student assistant salary haha.
I remember at that same time the PSA 9 Zard was going for $150, and the PSA 10 was about $900.
Kind of interesting because those ratios haven’t changed much.
