Well, at least in my case it depends of which area are you referring.

  • For Main Games, I had lots of memories from Gen IV. Pokémon Pearl was the game that introduced me to this “world with no return” called Pokémon. I really liked the BGM of Gen IV. It’s extremely good.
  • In case of TCG, imo it’s Gen II. It introduced the concept of Shining Pokémon. Also it had some really good expansions such as Vs or Web … and ended really well with e-Series … The best Trainers Magazines were from Gen II. In other words, it was peak of TCG.

Generation 1 I was all in. Watched the anime, played the games (very badly as I was young and got stuck constantly), collected the cards and even remember being obsessed with these sweets that came inside a Pokéball - it really was Pokémania, what a time to be alive and it’s by far my favourite generation for this reason.

Generation 3 is my favourite games played. I was a bit older and able to really grind these games out and play them properly, it has imo the best sprites and best design. Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald & Fire Red/Leaf Green it didn’t ever really get better than that. Gen 4 came close though.
