I bought a couple of Next Destinies booster packs from ebay in 2020 and just sold them to someone in person who sold them a few days later.
The buyer’s buyer said he thought they were resealed because the weight was only 15.6 grams. I didn’t weigh them myself so not sure if that’s true but he sent a picture.
He opened them and said they are fake (I haven’t been sent pics of what the cards look like yet). I had these in my collection for almost 2 years without realising. I’ve tried to compare them to others on ebay and the quality looks poorer than some others but there are ones the same as mine advertised. I’m not familiar with this era and the pack variations or quality control.
Can anyone tell if these packs are fake or has anyone came across fakes of B&W era packs before?
Fake. First photo of the pack, Pokemon logo looks over saturated in color. Photos of cards: back side of the card also discolored. There are cards in this photo that don’t come from Next Destinies. Ho-Oh EX is from Dragon’s Exalted, for example. Actually I think most of these cards come from Dragon’s Exalted and not Next Destinies. Also if these came from one pack, Next Destinies packs won’t have 2 EX cards in them. Also, look at the retreat costs on these cards. No Pokemon card has a retreat cost of 5 energies afaik. Bisharp’s name is written in yellow for no reason, too.
Did the buyer’s buyer contact you directly about this? If so, that seems a bit odd. And are you sure the packs in the photos are of the actual packs that you sold?
No I only had contact with my buyer. The buyer’s buyer is returning the other pack to my buyer and I’m going to give him a refund and open the other pack
I can’t believe I didn’t notice they were fake or think to check but I’m not familiar with mid era packs, they fooled all of us until they were weighed
