FAKE Charizard Prerelease Staff stamp

I wouldn’t throw out the baby with the bath water. The amount of forgeries are insignificant at this point. The real problem are the companies that aren’t doing their jobs. This is a situation where Beckett should remove the card from their pop.

Point taken. It’s easy to produce a gold stamp and if it’s put on a card that gets graded and listed for over 5000.00 well…that really should concern all of us.

Putting on my paranoid hat: couldn’t the same be said about WOTC’s 1st Edition stamp? What’s to stop scammers from taking a Shadowless and artificially adding the stamp then sending it for grading? With significant improvements to technologies nowadays I have to imagine that’s within the realm of possibilities as well.

^ I believe there was a post a bit ago about a PSA graded shadowless Charizard with a supposedly fake 1st Edition stamp.

Yes there was a fake graded 1st Ed stamp as well. I would have the same position to not be an alarmist. There are plenty of people who can properly authenticate a legitimate stamp, whether it be a 1st Ed or Gold stamp.

Yes, the scammers have been experimenting for a couple years on this.

My friend and I are working on a foolproof way to determine fake 1st Ed stamps that you’ll hear about soon. Fake gold stamps won’t be detectable it appears so far.

Not trying to be an alarmist but…

It feels like a black 1st edition stamp would be a lot easier to fake than a gold foil stamp. I’m personally surprised better fakes haven’t come out yet. I mean as mentioned we’ve already seen a few examples of them getting through PSA and/or BGS. The gold foil stamp also only has a small pool of cards that you could use it on to increase value. The 1st edition stamp has nearly an unlimited (see what I did there) supply of cards to greatly increase the value. I don’t think this is a concern at all with sports, magic or most other things really. It is fairly unique to Pokemon and of some amount of legitimate concern IMO.

I’m glad 1st edition base is much more immune to the risk of adding stamps than the rest of WOTC (only could use shadowless, not unlimited). I’m also glad they got rid of that stupid 1st edition stamp after Neo Destiny. If you want to bring something back to designate first print run cards then at least make it something more substantial than a bit of black ink that can’t be remotely faked e.g. shadowless-shadowed change.

Correct me if I’m wrong (not currently near any 1st edition cards to take a close look), but isn’t the 1st Edition stamp part of the print layer? As in it lies underneath the gloss/final layer and is not a raised, textured stamp?

SMH @beckett the “S” font is a dead giveaway.

Sweet. Maybe bgs will grade my staff pikachu too

Maybe real? Maybe fake? Maybe will be graded? I don’t care, I only hope people will avoid these cards.

If anyone has a decent fake feel free to send it my way and we’ll check it out under the scope. No chance these or black stamps can look like the genuine thing up close with the blind eye let alone under magnification.

This looks legit to me. I do not believe that Beckett would just grade a fake card.
I would definitely want that card in my collection.

Bonjour tous monde j’ai la même carte depuis 2016 et j’aimerais connaître sa valeur, la carte et totalement vrai. La personne qui me la vendu travailler pour asmodee, et il m’a ramener plusieurs erreurs.

Well I’m sure this will lead to a fun EFour meme.

Bienvenue!

Bonjour, bienvenue sur le forum. Vous aurez peut-être du mal à convaincre les gens qu’il s’agit d’un véritable timbre “STAFF”.

Hello, welcome to the forum. You might have a hard time convincing people it is a real “STAFF” stamp
