That was worded much more sensible. But I don’t think that just cause you think 50$ is much that you can’t have a safety net and still spend some of your income on cards.
Some dude said he’s selling a 1st ED Base Zard in German, so I message him about quality and price. Conversation went like this:
Dude: how much are you paying?
Me: depends on quality, show me some pictures
Him: i want at least 100€, its top mint
Me: Lemme see if it’s truly top mint
Him: but is 100€+ ok? I don’t wanna waste my time taking pictures if you’re not going to buy it
Me: If it is truly top mint, sure. But lemme be the judge of that first
Him: sends picture
But I also see this a lot on eBay… Cards listed as 1st edition, PSA, Pikachu/Charizard while they are something else… Rare Red Cheeks 1st edition Pikachu and then they show an unlimited edition Jungle Pikachu… sigh. And don’t get me started on the ‘rare purple background Pikachu’… If only one had a ‘rare blue’ or ‘rare red’ background Base Pikachu, I would be all over it. But I’m getting off-topic, since it’s about FB garbage here…
I once put my PSA 10 1st edition base Charizard up on a facebook buy/sell/swap group in Melbourne. It was amazing the amount of people tell me what i had wasn’t worth X, people claiming they had the card and then finding listings on eBay of any charizard they could find and gloating that i was wrong. It actually became kind of fun, there were a small amount of people who knew the value.
I felt a bit bad when i started enjoying the idiots telling me i was wrong. But i’ll never be posting any cards for sale that aren’t on a pokemon group
